Simon Says Stamp Adulting is Hard

Welcome back, Friends! It’s a beautiful STAMPtember, and I’m curious what your favorites are so far? As we all know, there are tons of new things the entire month, so be sure to stay tuned for those. Today’s card is featuring the fun, new Coffee Time set, so let’s get into it!

I began this project by stamping the coffee cup from the Coffee Time set a bunch of times using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat setting it with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I also stamped the sentiments from the set using the same ink and powder. I die cut the coffee mugs and die cut the sentiments three times to achieve the stacked sentiment look.

Once all of the mugs were cut, I got busy coloring them using Copic Markers in RV55, V05, Y13, Y17, YG13, G14, BG11, BG13, BV00, BV02 and E23. I also die cut the SSS Artwork Grid Plate twice from Neenah 110lb cardstock and adhered those to the card base using liquid glue. As I was playing around with the layout of the card, I decided that it would be super cool if each square had a corresponding color of splatter. For some reason, I must like making things hard for myself!

I took the card to the splat box and pulled out the TH Distress Oxide Sprays in Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Broken Chine and Wilted Violet. I worked one square at a time and “masked” off everything else using paper towels. Yes, this took some time, but I’m quite happy with how it turned out! Everything on the card front was then adhered using foam tape to finish up.

Spellbinders Black Alder Christmas

Hello Friends and thanks so much for stopping by! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Black Alder dies from the Spellbinders Winter’s Grace Garden Collection. This is a die set from Susan Tierney-Cockburn and it’s absolutely beautiful! She has a wonderful video over on the Spellbinders product page, so definitely check that out! Let’s go ahead and go through the details for my card!

I began my card by doing all of my die cutting using green and red cardstock. Once that was done, I did some ink blending on the leaves using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Kale, and used Copic Marker E79 to color the stems. The Black Alder leaves are shiny, so I used some Nuvo Crystal Drops and painted the leaves to give them a shiny effect.

If you know me, you know that I love using jewels as berries, and that’s exactly what I did here! Yay for red jewels! In Susan’s video, she uses small foam balls that she colored, but I didn’t have any of those, so I used what was on hand! My background was created using the Argyle Plaid 3D Embossing Folder with a bit of gold splatter for added interest.

I adhered the panel to a card base and began adhering my leaves using liquid glue. I then adhered the berries in place and went to work on the sentiment, which is from the Mistletoe Greetings BetterPress set. I gold foiled the sentiment and trimmed it out using the included die, and I went ahead and also cut a gold banner and glued those together.

My sentiment was adhered to the panel with foam strips for some added dimension. I’m pretty pleased with how this card turned out! I love the glossy leaves, which is something that you don’t see too often.

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Collaboration with Concord & 9th

Hello Friends and welcome back! Today’s STAMPtember collaboration set is with Concord & 9th and features a wreath building stamp set. Let’s not waste time and get into the details!

I began this card by stamping the florals and leaves onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using C&9 inks in Grapefruit and Artichoke. This set also includes individual flowers, so I stamped those using Nectar ink and fussy cut those out.

I trimmed the panel down using SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames and gave it a gold splatter for additional interest. I always need more leaves so I used the C&9 Primrose Garden dies for those, and cut several leaves from two colors of green cardstock.

The sentiment that I used is the C&9th Scripted Thanks die, which is from a summer camp bundle several years ago and doesn’t appear to be available. But, you can use whatever you have in your stash that will fit. I cut the thanks once from gold cardstock and twice from black cardstock and adhered those together using liquid glue.

My panel was adhered to the card base and I glued the green leaves in place and adhered the individual flowers atop those with foam tape. To finish up, I added some PinkFresh Jewels for some sparkle.

Simon Says Stamp Simple Thanks Floral Spray

Hello Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! The STAMPtember release is in full swing, and I’m back today with a project featuring several new products. I kind of went crazy with the new products on this one because it’s featuring the new Rustic Layering Flower, the Double Plaid Cover, the Simple Thanks and the Crimped Floral Embossing Folder & Die. So, let’s go through the details for this one!

I said that I used the Crimped Floral Embossing Folder & Die, but I did not use the entirety of the folder itself. I used it to create the smaller flowers in my spray. Another thing to note, this card is giving an illusion of the Double Plaid Cover. I saved the left over squares and triangles from a previous project and ink blended the edges of those using Earl ink for a shadowed effect.

To begin, I used the Double Plaid Cover to emboss a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and then adhered the grey ink blended pieces using foam squares. I thought this was a super interesting way to utilize those leftover pieces. For some color inspiration, I pulled a card from the Color Cubes, and die cut the smaller flowers from colored cardstock, using the included die from the Crimped Floral Folder. For some depth, I did some ink blending on those using C&9 Peacock and Sorbet inks, and added a black crystal to the centers of the flowers.

I then cut the larger flower using the Rustic Layering Flower and ink blended that using that same Peacock ink before assembling the pieces. As always, I need leaves to go with my flowers, so I used the Arching Leaf Border set and cut those from a sage and pine colored cardstock. While die cutting, I went ahead and die cut the Simple Thanks four times from black cardstock, and adhered all of those together with liquid glue.

I began gluing the leaves in place first, as those were the bottom layers, and then I glued the larger flower in place next, and tucked in the other flowers where needed for fullness. The sentiment was glued directly to the panel to finish up.

Spellbinders Argyle Paperwhites

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome back! The Spellbinders September releases are live, and I’m back today with a project featuring the new Paperwhites Glass Vase and Dies from Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Winter’s Grace Garden Collection. Let’s go ahead and jump into the details!

This was my first time working with Susan’s flowers, and I just have to say, they are absolutely wonderful to work with! I love that she provides a video on the product page and offers guidance on how to shape, color and assemble the elements. This set does include a vase and a bulb, but I opted to use only the flower dies for my card today. I die cut eight flowers from Neenah 110lb cardstock and used the Sizzix Shaping Kit to soften and curl the petals. For the stamen, I used Copic Marker Y38 to color those a golden yellow before assembling.

I assembled all of my flowers and began working on the rest of the card. I used the Argyle Plaid 3D Embossing Folder for the background, and I used Sealed Blooming Stems for the leaves, which were cut from Sage cardstock. The sentiment is from the You Are Everything Sentiments BetterPress set, and that was gold foiled.

The background panel was adhered to the card base, and I began securing the leaves with liquid glue, while adhering the flowers with a foam square. The sentiment was adhered with foam strips, not that this card needed any more dimension! To finish up, I added some clear drops for a little bit of shine.

Like I said earlier, this is the first time that I’ve used Susan’s flowers, and I’m blown away by the dimension! This is definitely a hand deliver type of card!

Spellbinders Rainy Birthday Wishes

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back to my blog! I appreciate you joining me for today’s project featuring the new Spellbinders Autumn Rain BetterPress Plate. How fun is this plate?!?!? I mean for real! Let’s not waste any time and get into the details!

For this project, I wanted a dreary grey background with brighter umbrellas, so I inked the Autumn Rain plate with VersaFine Clair Morning Mist ink. If you’re looking for a great grey ink, then you should definitely check this one out! I did ink the plate a couple times and run it through the machine for better coverage.

Once the background was complete, I used the Autumn Rain stencils to add color to the leaves and umbrellas. The ink that i used was SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Bubblegum, Carnation, Sweets, Celery and Melon. I also used a Zig Wink of Stella pen to add a touch of shimmer to the raindrops, although it’s hard to see that in the pictures.

The panel was then trimmed down using the Nested Postage Labels & Tag set and then adhered to the card base. I gold foiled the sentiment, which is from the You Are Everything Sentiments BetterPress Plate set, onto black cardstock and trimmed it with the coordinating die. I did cut it three times for a stacked look and adhered the sentiment to the panel using foam strips to finish up.

Spellbinders Withered Viburnum

Hello Friends, and welcome back! I’m back today with a card featuring the new Withered Viburnum from the Winter’s Grace Garden collection from Spellbinders. This is such a beautiful set from Susan Tierney-Cockburn, and I just loved adding sparklies for the berries! Let’s go ahead and go through the details.

I began this project by cutting the leaves from Fern cardstock, and cutting the berry portion from Indigo cardstock. I did end up cutting the leaves several times for a fuller spray. Once the cutting was complete, I did some ink blending on the leaves using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Cabernet and Kale.

Like I said earlier, I added jewels to the berry portions and then went to work on the rest of the card. The background was created using the Leafy 3D Embossing Folder and I lightly ink blended some Sprout ink on that before splattering it with some gold acrylic ink.

The sentiment, which is from the Making Me Smile Sentiments set, was gold foiled onto black cardstock and die cut several times using the included die. I adhered the background panel to the card base and then began the layout.

The leaves were adhered first and the berry clusters were adhered next, tucking those in as needed. To finish up, the sentiment was adhered with foam strips for dimension.

Spellbinders Picture Perfect Sunflowers Large Die of the Month

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! Thanks so much for stopping by! The September Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders is titled Picture Perfect Autumn, and for today’s project, I only used the sunflowers from the set. You can check out my last post to see the scene that I created with more elements from this set.

Even though I’m only featuring the sunflower today, I think it’s great to look at sets and think of different ways that you can use them. To begin these cards, I die cut the sunflowers from yellow cardstock and cut the centers from a dune colored cardstock.

When I was done cutting, I did some ink blending on the pieces using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Citrine, Clay and Woodsy. Those pieces were then adhered together using liquid glue. For the leaves on these cards, I opted to use the Sealed Leaf Sprigs and cut a bunch of those from two colors of green cardstock.

My background was created using the Leafy 3D Embossing Folder, along with some splatter and those were adhered to the card bases before assembly. The sentiments that I used were already made, because I like having a stash of sentiments on hand to choose from. These were created from the You are Everything Sentiments BetterPress Plate and the Faith Glimmer Sentiments, along with gold and matte gold foil. When trying to link the faith sentiments, I was unable to find those, so I think those must have been discontinued, unfortunately. Whenever I create sentiments, I do cut them three times and stack them for more sturdiness.

To assemble the card, I arranged and glued the leaves in place, adhered the flowers using foam tape, and glued the sentiments atop the leaf stems.

Simon Says Stamp Double Plaid Floral

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back to my blog! I’m so glad that you stopped by to check out today’s project featuring the new Double Plaid Cover, as well as the new Rustic Layering Flower. These new products are from the STAMPtember release, and I had a blast making this card, so let’s get into the details!

I began this project by pulling an inspiration card from the Color Cubes, just to get some color variety going on. Once I decided on a color combo that I liked, I die cut the Rustic Layering Flower three times from aqua, orange and pink cardstock. This flower has several pieces so I did some ink blending on those pieces before assembling them. The ink colors that I used were Carnation, Sweets, Ocean, Cantaloupe and Sherbet.

For some additional flowers and leaves, I used the Fine Floral Stem for some light blue flowers, as well as the Budding Branches for some white leaves. I have to say that the Budding Branches is by far my most used leaf set from Simon! I did die cut the centers of the flowers from gold cardstock to pull the elements together.

Moving on to assembly .. I splattered my card base using black acrylic ink before adhering the Double Plaid Cover with foam strips. I arranged the flowers and leaves and adhered those using a combination of liquid glue and foam strips to provide support where necessary. I always have to add embellishments to the “buds” of the leaves, because I just think it’s so awesome and so pretty!

I stamped the sentiment, which is from the Mix & Match Butterflies set, using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set that using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to cut it several times for a stacked look. The sentiment was glued directly to the panel to finish up.

That does it for this project! I’m sorry if you’re sick of florals, but I literally can’t help myself! Florals and leaves are my jam! For this month’s Large Die of the Month Club, which is titled Picture Perfect Autumn, I created a fun pumpkin patch scene. So, let’s run through the details for this one! I knew going in to this project, that I wanted a rolling hills type of scene with some sunflowers and a pumpkin patch, so I started the die cutting process. I used blue, brown, green, kraft, orange, yellow and white cardstock colors for all of the die cutting of the various pieces for the scene.

Once all of the cutting was done, I did some ink blending on the pieces using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Honey, Clay, Pearfection, Field, Morning and Mocha. I then assembled the flowers and the pumpkins using liquid glue. For the assembly of the card, I worked my way from the top to the bottom of the card, securing pieces with glue and tucking items between the layers as necessary. The sentiment was added to the top of the card with foam strips for a little bit of dimension.
