Spellbinders Birthday Mountain Daisy

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome back! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Lavender Mountain Daisy from Spellbinders and Susan Tierney Cockburn! You guys know that I love florals, so I was thrilled to be able to work with some of Susan’s latest floral die cuts! Let’s go ahead and get into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting a few of the daisies and centers from Purple Mist and Saffron cardstock. I did some ink blending on the flowers using PFS Hydrangea ink, and I used Copic marker YR04 on the centers. I used the Sizzix Shaping Kit to shape the center pieces and then I went ahead and assembled the flowers.

Now as you all know, I always need greenery so I die cut a few leaves from the Vivid Blooms set from Green Apple cardstock and did some ink blending on those as well using Artichoke ink. For my background, I used the Fresh Picked Labels and Tag to create a focal point. The center portion that was cut out to create the frame was then run through the machine using the Argyle Plaid 3D Embossing Folder to add a bit of texture.

The sentiment, which is from the Simply Perfect Mix & Match Sentiments, was die cut once from gold cardstock and twice from Neenah 110lb cardstock for a stacked sentiment. I was unable to locate this set on the Spellbinders website, so I’m assuming that it must have been discontinued. But, if you’re wanting to recreate this project, just use what’s in your stash! Before assembling, I did splatter both the panel and the card base with gold acrylic ink. The textured panel was adhered to the card base using liquid glue, as well as the flowers, leaves and sentiment. To finish up, I added a few Gold Metallic Pearls.

That does it for this card! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Don’t forget to check out all of the February releases from Spellbinders! Thanks again for joining me, and have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders Daisy Birthday Wishes

Hello Friends and welcome back! I’m so glad you decided to join me for today’s project featuring the new Painted Daisy & Ladybugs from Spellbinders and Susan Tierney Cockburn. This daisy is so gorgeous and I had so much fun making it, and am so happy with this project! Let’s go ahead and go through the deets, shall we?

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting the daisy pieces from Saffron and Black cardstock, while die cutting the leaves from Fern cardstock. I did some ink blending on the flower portions using Clay ink and Kale ink for the leaves. Before assembling the flower, I used the Sizzix Shaping Kit to soften the petals some. I did also die cut some other leaves from the Vivid Blooms set as well.

Once the ink blending was complete, I assembled the flower using liquid glue. The center portion of the flower did take some time, but I absolutely love the texture! The sentiment that was used is from the Making Me Smile Sentiments Hot Foil set and that was gold foiled onto black cardstock. I used the included die cut to trim it out along with two additional cuts for a stacked sentiment.

The background was created using the Nestled Postage Labels and Tag set and that was gold splattered before adhering it to the card base with foam tape. The leaves were adhered first, and then the flower. I glued the tiny sentiment right in the middle of the flower and added some Gold Metallic Pearls to one of the leaves to finish up.

A simple design for today’s card, but I love the way it turned out! I hope you enjoyed it as well. I’m always so happy working with florals! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful day!

Hello Crafters and welcome back! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the new Spellbinders Color

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I took my color inspirations from the Color Cubes and matched the new Spellbinders cardstock colors to those, or as close as I could get them. I did add a die cut flower to each color as well, to give a little more detail. I hope you find some unique combinations that you might enjoy working with.

I could have made hundreds of combinations, but I got nine made. I was limited with my cardstock, so I made the best of it! If you haven’t used the Color Cubes, I highly recommend them! I do find myself getting stuck with colors sometimes, and it’s so helpful to just thumb through the cards to find a new combo that interests me. I’ve provided links to the colors that I used, along with some sampler packs. There are packs that include all of the colors as well, but at the time that this was written, those were out of stock and I was unable to provide a link to that.

That does it for this project! Like I said, I hope this post inspires you to try some new color combos, and to try the new cardstock colors from Spellbinders. Stay tuned for a shaped card using these dies! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders Vivid Script Hugs

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the new Eyelet Scallop Border, Vivid Script Sentiments and the Vivid Blooms sets from the Spellbinders latest January releases. Let’s go ahead and jump into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by gold splattering a Neenah panel and then die cutting the Eyelet Scallop Border from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I also went ahead and cut the flowers from the Vivid Blooms set from Waterfall and yellow cardstock. While I was cutting, I cut the hugs sentiment once from gold cardstock and three times from Neenah.

I ink blending the flowers a little bit with some Surf ink and assembled the pieces of the flowers, as well as the sentiment. I adhered the border to my splattered panel, adhered the flowers atop that and then adhered the sentiment just below that. The finished panel was then adhered to the card base with foam tape for added dimension.

Super simple card for today, but I’ve been in a clean and simple mode lately for some reason. That’s ok .. not every card has to be over the top! I hope you enjoyed it, and I’m so glad that you stopped by! Have yourself an awesome day!

Spellbinders Wonderful Vivid Blooms

Hello Friends and thanks for stopping by! Today’s project is featuring the new Vivid Blooms set from Spellbinders January releases. I had used these florals on a previous project and had some left over, so of course I had to use them! Let’s run through the details.

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting the florals and leaves from Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Saffron, Cotton Candy and Green Apple cardstocks. I did some ink blending on those pieces using Carnation, Honey, Artichoke, Ocean and Surf inks. Once the ink blending was complete, I assembled the flowers and set them aside while I worked on the remainder of the card.

I used the Fluted Classics Rectangles to create a frame and then embossed the center portion using the Leafy Embossing Folder. For some added interest, I did splatter both of those with gold acrylic ink. The sentiment, which is from the You Are Everything Sentiments set, was gold foiled onto black cardstock and die cut three times for a stacked sentiment look.

For the assembly, I glued the frame and embossed panel to the card base and then adhered the leaves in place and then the florals. Two of the flowers were adhered with foam tape for some added dimension. The sentiment was added with foam strips, and to finish up, I added some Gold Metallic Pearls to one of the leaf stems.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Thanks again for joining me today, and I have you have an amazing day! Stay awesome, friend!

Spellbinders Sweeping Floral Hello

Hello Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! I recently did a white on white card, and that prompted the idea for creating a black on black card. This project is using the Sweeping Script Sentiments BetterPress Plates and the Vivid Blooms from Spellbinders’ latest January releases. Let’s go ahead and go through the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project be gold foiling the hello, which is from the Sweeping Script Sentiments set, and then using the Fluted Classics Rectanlges to trim it out. I then splattered the panel with gold acrylic ink and set that aside to dry while I worked on the flowers.

I die cut several flowers and leaves from the Vivid Blooms set from black cardstock and cut the centers of the flowers from gold cardstock. I went ahead and assembled the flowers using liquid glue and got started on the card layout.

The leaves were glued in place first and the larger flowers were adhered with foam tape for a little bid of added dimension. The smaller flowers were tucked in and around to fill in and secured with glue as well. I did add some gold metallic pearls to one of the leaves to bring it all together before adhering the panel to the card base to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Black on black isn’t for everyone, but I do love tone on tone projects! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Spellbinders Birthday Wishes

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! The January releases from Spellbinders are live, and I’m back today with a project featuring the new Ganache Gateau, Birthday Cheers and the Vivid Blooms! Don’t you love it when the vision in your mind translates well to an actual project?! Let’s go through the details for this one, shall we?

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by cutting the base layer of the cake using Cotton Candy cardstock, while cutting the frosting pieces from Neenah 110lb cardstock. There was quite a bit of floral cutting for this project and the cardstock colors that I used were Gold, Waterfall, Saffron, Peacock and Green Apple. Those will all be listed in the thumbnails below.

Once all of the floral die cutting was complete, I did some ink blending on the flowers using Bubblegum, Surf and Cabbage inks. The floral pieces were then assembled using liquid glue. Before adding anything to the cake, I did splatter it with gold acrylic ink for some added interest. I began the assembly with the leaves and flowers at the bottom of the cake, and then added the bottom icing piece.

I wanted to figure out the sentiment before adding the top pieces to the cake, so I die cut the support sticks five times from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and I die cut the ‘birthday wishes’ once from gold cardstock and four times from Neenah. All of those pieces were adhered together so that it would be sturdy.

I adhered the top icing pieces, the support sticks and then the flowers around those. Adding the flowers over the support sticks hid the bottom portion of those, which I wanted. My next step was to secure the sentiment in place. I wanted the card to be the shape of the cake, so I cut another piece of pink cardstock and scored it at 1/4″ and applied some Scor Tape to secure those together.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it! In all honesty, this is my very first shaped card, and I kind of like it, so I’ll probably try it again at some point. Thanks for stopping by to hang out with me for a bit, and I hope you have an amazing day!

Spellbinders October 2024 Large Die of the Month Cozy Toes Slippers

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! Thanks so much for stopping by! The October Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders is titled Cozy Toes Slippers, and this is such a cute set! It includes elements to make slippers that feature a bunny, a reindeer, a penguin, Santa and even a monster! I chose to do the Santa slippers, so let’s go ahead and run through the details, shall we?

If you are not familiar with the Spellbinders Clubs, here’s a little bit about how it works ..

  • On the 6th of the month, Non-Club members can join the club and get this month’s Club product(s) at the reduced Club Member price with free shipping.
  • On the 27th of the month, registration for this month’s club products closes.
  • On the 10th of the next month, Club products become available to everyone without requiring a Club membership; however, they are available at regular price and there is no free shipping. If a product is sold out, it will be re-ordered.

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by sorting through the dies and identifying those that pertained to the Santa. I then began cutting from colors of cardstock that coordinated with the pieces. I cut the pajama pants from patterned paper from my stash, and cut the slippers from black, and so on. You get the idea!

Once all of the pieces were cut, I began assembling them. I’m not even going to lie, I do have to refer to the images on the website sometimes to figure out what I’m supposed to be doing with the pieces! I decided that I needed a background, so I used the Argyle Plaid 3D Embossing Folder for that.

I adhered the pants and slippers using foam tape for added dimension, and applied glue and glitter to Santa’s hat for some sparkly additions. I also decided to apply some Glossy Accents to Santa’s nose as well. The sentiment is from the Mistletoe Greetings BetterPress set, and that was created using BetterPress Black ink, and then glued directly atop the pajama pants to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! There are so many fun options with this set for some super, cute Christmas or wintery cards! Thanks again for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders Holly Holiday Background

Hello Friends and thanks for joining me! Today’s project is featuring the new Holiday Background Panel, as well as the Festive Circle Sentiments from the Spellbinders September release! Let’s go ahead and go through the details, shall we?

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by gold foiling one of the panels from the Holiday Background Panels BetterPress set. There are four panels in this set, so you have lots of options for creating beautiful backgrounds. While I was foiling, I went ahead and gold foiled the Festive Circle Sentiments as well and used the coordinating die to trim those out.

I knew that I wanted some florals and some holly, so I used the Sealed Holly Sprigs and Petite Blooms and Sentiments for that and cut those from red and green cardstock. To add some depth to the leaves, I used Field ink and did some ink blending on the edges of those. The foiled panel was adhered to the card base using foam tape, and the sentiment was glued in the center of that.

The leaves and flowers were adhered with liquid glue as well, and I added some red jewels to add a bit more interest and shine for berries.

That does it for this project! It’s nice to be adding some holiday cards to my stash this early! When do you typically start on your holiday cards? I usually begin my personal Christmas cards in October, which is quickly approaching! Thanks again for joining me, and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Spellbinders Floral Thanks Cardfront

Hello Crafty Friends and thanks for joining me! Today’s project is featuring the new Thanks A2 Cardfront 3D Embossing Folder from Spellbinders September releases. I paired it with a bunch of florals for added interest, because we all know that I’m addicted to flowers! Let’s go ahead and go through the details.

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by running a gold panel in the Thanks folder through the machine, and then began die cutting all the flowers. The sets used for the flowers were Autumn Sealed Sprigs, Be Bold Blooms and Club Blooms, and the colors used were Black, Orange, Pink Sand, Saffron, Sage and Waterfall. Once that was done, I did a little bit of ink blending on the flowers using Carnation, Ocean, Sage and Honey inks before assembling the flowers.

The flowers on the sides were adhered first using liquid glue, and then I added a few to the center of the panel to balance everything out. My panel was adhered to the card base, and to finish up, I added a few clear drops.

This was a super simple card, but I loved adding all of the flowers to it for that pop of color! Be sure to head over to the Spellbinders website to check out all of the awesome releases for September! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have an amazing day!
