Simon Says Stamp Grungy Dewdrop Daisy

Hi Friends! Thanks for joining me! Today’s project is featuring the new Dewdrop Daisy from Simon’s latest release, Shine On. I had this background lying around from a previous project, and I thought that I could give the daisy a grungy feel for all of these components to work together! Let’s go through the deets!

As I said, I already had this background panel, which was created using Distress Oxide Sprays, inks and paint. I die cut the panel using the Sparkler Scallop Frames and did some stamping, stenciling and splattering on it. The daisy was die cut from cream cardstock and ink blended using Distress Oxide Salvaged Patina, Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint.

My background panel was adhered to a black panel for contrast, the stem was glued in place, while the flower and sentiment were adhered with foam tape to finish up.

Together By Design Featuring Distress Oxides

Together by Design is a monthly collaboration where a small group of designers all create with products from the same featured brand. Each of us chooses a favorite product and puts our own creative spin on it, showing just how many different ways one brand can inspire. My project got pretty detailed, and I apologize for that, but let’s go ahead and run through the details! I began by creating the background first using Distress Oxide sprays in Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain and Broken China. I did also use regular Distress spray in Gathered Twigs. I was drying my panel between ink applications, so that I would get some good color variations. Once I was satisfied with the background, I did some stamping using various Tim Holtz sets from my stash, and trimmed it down using A2 Postage Rectangles. I knew that I wanted some texture as well, so I mixed some Ranger Transparent Texture Paste with some Distress Salvaged Patina Paint and added that through the TCW Mini Well Rounded Stencil. I’m not even sure if this stencil is still available, but any stencil that you love would work just great!

For the focal image, I stamped the Floral Trims stamp onto a panel of watercolor paper using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set that using clear embossing powder. I then did some watercoloring using Distress Oxide ink pads in Salvaged Patina and Walnut Stain. While I was creating my background panel, I went ahead and created another panel that I used to cut the frame surrounding the floral. That was trimmed out using the same postage set and adhered to the floral.

The background panel was adhered to a black panel for contrast, and then adhered to the card base. I added some bits from the Tim Holtz Curator Ephemera Pack, as well as some Field Notes PET Tape from 49 and Market. The floral was adhered using foam tape and some black butterflies were added to tie in all of the black stamping. The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz Theories Quote Chips set that I added some Salvaged Patina ink to and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a bit of shine.

Simon Says Stamp + Tim Holtz STAMPtember Collaboration Set

Hello Friends, and welcome back! It’s time for the Tim Holtz Collaboration that you’ve all been waiting for! Tim actually has SIX new holiday products that are part of Tim’s STAMPtember Technique Workshop! How exciting is that?! As you know, from previous classes with Tim, these kits sell out super fast, and there are limited quantities available! With that being said, if you’d like one, don’t delay in grabbing yours TODAY! My project is featuring the new Festive Watercolor along with the new Festive Sentiments, so let’s go ahead and go through the deets!

I began this project by creating an ink smooshed panel using Simon Cabbage, Kale, Pine and Field inks. I worked one color at a time, and smooshed the ink onto my glass mat and spritzed it with water. I smooshed my panel into the puddle and dried it with my heat tool before moving on to the next color. Once I was satisfied with the panel, I stamped a leaf from the Festive Watercolor set using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set it using clear embossing powder. I did this several times to have enough to make a swag.

I then used the coordinating die to trim those leaves out. I stamped the sentiment, which is from the new Festive Sentiments set, onto Crimson cardstock using VersaFine again, and heat setting it the same way. I did cut the sentiment three times for a stacked sentiment look.

My background was created using a really old embossing folder from Tim Holtz with some ink blending on the edges using Brick ink for some added depth. As I always say, I needed more leaves, so I used the Arching Spruce Sprig from Simon and cut those from Forest cardstock. I took everything over and gave it a good white splatter!

I adhered the stamped leaves and sentiment using foam strips and tucked in the other leaves, securing those with liquid glue. The panel was adhered to a black panel for added contrast, and I added some red gems to areas where a berry might go to finish up.

Simon Says Stamp Happy Vintage Blooms

Hello and welcome back, Friends! Today’s project is featuring the new Vintage Blooms from Simon’s latest release, Moments In Time. This set has two larger blooms, but I opted to use just one for this project. Let’s run through the details!

I began by gathering a panel of watercolor paper and the inks that I wanted to use. This background was created by smooshing the ink onto my glass mat and adding a touch of water and painting it onto the panel. I wanted a nice wash of color that blended from a peachy color to a pink color. The inks that I used were Distress Oxide Saltwater Taffy and Kitsch Flamingo. I worked one color at a time, drying between the layers.

Once I was satisfied with the wash of color, I went ahead and stamped the florals onto the panel using VersaFine Clair Morning Mist. I really like this ink, because it’s dark, but not too dark like the Onyx Black. I heat set the images using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and took the panel back to my work area. I wanted to darken the flowers and leaves so that they stood out a little more so I pulled out Distress Oxide Sprays in Broken China, Picked Raspberry, and Saltwater Taffy. I just put a few drops on my glass mat, and painted using a water brush this time. I also wanted some splatter so used the same sprays for that.

I dried the panel and trimmed it out using the Postage Stamp Edge Frames and adhered it to the card base using foam tape. The sentiment, which is from the Just Breathe set, was stamped onto black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat set using Detail White Embossing Powder. That was then trimmed out using the coordinating die, along with two more cuts. That was adhered with foam strips, and some clear drops were added to finish up.

Simon Says Stamp Winter Wishes

Hey There! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the Tim Holtz Be of Good Cheer set! You can snag this set free with any $25 purchase of Tim Holtz products over on Simon’s website! Let’s go ahead and get into the details, shall we?

I began this project by die cutting the snowman from the set using color coordinating pieces of cardstock. Since I was going for a snowy card, I opted to use blues for mine. Once all the pieces were cut, I assembled the snowman and set that aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

I found a piece of snowflake patterned paper and thought that would work well, so I trimmed it down to size and splattered it with some black acrylic ink. I created a frame with black cardstock using the Postage Stamp Edge Frames and also cut a black square as a backdrop for the snowman. To add a little distress, I rubbed the edges with Ranger Picket Fence ink as well. The sentiment was created using blue cardstock and the TH Sizzix 661600. I was unable to locate this set on Simon’s website or even Tim’s website, so I’m assuming that it has been discontinued. My apologies about that, but any sentiment in your stash would work perfectly fine!

The black frame was adhered to the snowflake paper using foam strips, as was the sentiment strips and the smaller black center square. Because I like dimension so much, I went ahead and adhered the snowman with foam tape as well. One can never have too much dimension!

Simon Says Stamp Good Cheer Ornament

Hello Crafters, and welcome back to my blog! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the Tim Holtz Be of Good Cheer set! Let’s run through the details for this one!

I began this project by die cutting the snowman pieces from the set with color coordinating cardstock. I then adhered the pieces of the snowman and went to work on the Layered Rosette from Simon’s latest DieCember release. I die cut the pieces of the rosette from Neenah 110lb cardstock and did some ink blending using Cabbage and Artichoke ink. You can tell from the images that I die cut the smaller rosette from gold cardstock as well, for layering purposes. Before adhering the pieces, I did some white ink splatter for a bit of added interest.

Since I made this into an ornament, I die cut the larger rosette four times, used a hole punch so that I could tie ribbons, and adhered all of those together with liquid glue. To give it a bit of aging, I rubbed some Gathered Twigs Oxide ink along the edges as well. The snowman was then adhered using foam tape for added dimension.

To finish up, I used some gold thread for the hanging portion of the ornament, and used some red and white twine to make a bow as well. That does it for this project! Simon Says Stamp Joyful Santa

Hello Friends and welcome back! Have you snagged your free Be of Good Cheer set from Tim Holtz and SSS yet?! This is such a great deal! My project today is featuring the Santa from the set, so let’s get into the details!

I began this project by selecting a piece of patterned Holiday paper and trimming it down. I then inked the edges of the paper using Distress Oxide Gathered Twigs to give it an aged look, along with some black splatter. I cut several of the Large Joy die cuts from black cardstock and adhered those to the panel in a random pattern.

I die cut the pieces of the Santa from coordinating colors in Neenah Solar White, black, red, fog, pink and tan cardstock colors. Once those were cut, I assembled the Santa using liquid glue. I used the Postage Stamps die to cut a black square that would be used to mount the Santa on.

The black square was adhered to my panel using foam tape and the Santa was adhered atop that with more foam tape for lots of dimension. This was then adhered to a black panel for contrast before being adhered to the card base to finish up.

That finishes up this project! I thought this was a good card to utilize some of that patterned paper that I seem to hoard for whatever reason! Be sure to grab your Tim Holtz set before they’re gone! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Simon Says Stamp Snowy Warm Hugs

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome back! Today I’m featuring the new Simon Says Stamp Exclusive die cut from Tim Holtz, Be of Good Cheer! What a fun little set to play with, AND it’s free with any $25 Tim Holtz branded purchase! Hurry though, this offer is only while supplies last! I created a few projects with this set, so let’s go ahead and go through the first one.

I began this project by embossing a panel of watercolor paper using the Snowflake Visions Embossing Folder. I used watercolor paper because I knew that I was going to be adding moisture, and I wanted a paper that good withstand that. I added some TH Distress Spritz in Uncharted Mariner and let that dry some before adding some Peacock Feathers Spritz. When that was dry, I used a brayer and white ink to roll over the raised portions of the panel to brighten it back up. I wasn’t done there .. I also added some white splatter to the panel as well.

I set that aside to dry while I worked on the snowman. The snowman is several pieces so I cut the coordinating pieces from Neenah, black, blues, grey, orange and pink. Once those were all cut, I assembled the snowman using liquid glue. I also cut a silver frame using the SSS A2 Thin Frames set, and the Warm Hugs was also cut from silver cardstock as well. I did two additional cuts from Neenah and cut the shadow twice from Neenah and glued all of those pieces together for that stacked sentiment look.

The silver frame was glued to the panel, while the sentiment and the snowman were adhered using foam tape before being adhered to the card base.

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Tim Holtz Collaboration

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! YES, it’s the day that we’ve all been waiting for, the Tim Holtz Collaboration set for STAMPtember! You guys, this is such a fun set! It has two die sets, one set is a postage stamp set, and the other is the set that die cuts all of the fun images! Let’s go ahead and go through the details for this project!

I began this project by stamping all of the images from the set. I just peeled the set from the plastic and plopped the whole thing into the Misti! I figured that I could figure out what I was going to use later. I used VersaFine Onyx Black ink for the stamping and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder to heat set.

I then went to work coloring the images that I wanted to use with Copic Markers. I’ll link to those colors in the thumbnails below. Once the coloring was complete, I used the coordinating dies to trim the images out. I knew that I wanted to create a grid for my card, so I also cut nine of the small postage squares from black cardstock.

For some of the images on my card, I added some elements of interest. I added red gems to the Christmas tree, glitter to Santa’s hat and Glossy Accents to several of the images. Once those were dry, I adhered the images to the black squares using foam tape. My center square needed a sentiment, so I stamped this one using VersaMark Ink and heat set it using white embossing powder.

I created a background panel to work on using the SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames and glued my images in place, while the middle sentiment was adhered using foam tape so that it would match the dimension of the other squares. The panel was then adhered to the card base to finish up.

Simon Says Stamp This Blows

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back to my blog! I’m back today with a fun project featuring the new Reverse Bad Day Good Vibes Sentiment Strips from Simon’s latest release, Sunny Vibes. This card might not be for everyone, but it totally cracks me up! Let’s run through the details!

Main Products:

I began this project by die cutting the SSS Oh Expletive once from SSS Black Glossy cardstock and twice from black cardstock. I also cut the shadow portion of the die twice from black and adhered all of those layers together using liquid glue.

Once the main sentiment was complete, I pulled a piece of patterned paper from the Tim Holtz Abandoned pad and used the SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames to trim that down. I then rubbed Simon Mocha ink along the edges for a more distressed feel. Before adhering the panel to the card base with foam tape, I splattered it with Ranger Distress Mica Stain in Crooked Broomstick.

The main sentiment was adhered using SSS 3D Foam Strips for added dimension, and I added the sentiment strip just below using the same strips. This card was super simple, but it makes me laugh, and I love that! I thought this sentiment strip paired well with the main sentiment.
