Scrap Paper Crocus Stems

Hello Friend, and thanks for swinging by! I recently came across Ashild Halvorsen on Instagram where she was using scraps of her gel prints to make “scrap tape.” I don’t have a bunch of gel prints, but I do have a bunch of scraps of patterned paper, and I thought this would be a cute idea to use some of them up. I’m sure if you’re like me, you have an over abundance of scraps as well! Let’s run through the details for these cards.

Ashild used tape for her strips, but I wanted mine to be larger, so I cut panels of Neenah 110lb cardstock to 3.5″ x 4.75″. I also took a pile of my scraps and cut them into various strips, with no regard for how thick or thin they were, just cutting. I then used some dot tape runner to cover the panels and began laying down the strips. I ended up making eight panels, but I have enough strips to make about eighteen more!

I layered some of the panels with black cardstock for a bit of a contrast, and splattered some of the card bases for additional interest. I used the SSS Etched Crocus Stems to cut several flowers in black and white and adhered those using liquid glue. I also used various sentiments that I thought would work for this design as well. I will list all of the products used below, if you’d like to reference them. All of the strip panels were adhered using foam tape for additional dimension.

I just really loved this idea for using some of the scrap papers that have accumulated in my drawer, and I’m so glad that I stumbled across Ashild’s account! If you have a moment, you should definitely go check her out! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I hope you’ll give this project a try! If you do, please tag me on Instagram, as I would love to see your creations. I hope you have a wonderful day, and don’t forget to stay awesome!

Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Hearts Banner

Hello Friend! I’m so glad that you stopped by! I’m back with another card for Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Sweetheart, featuring this super fun Heart Banners Stencil. Let’s run through the details, shall we?

I began this card by cutting a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock to 6×6. This is a set of four stencils, and I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to lay out on the cardstock, and that’s why I began with a 6×6 panel. I could always trim it down later, if I decided to. I taped the panel to the stencil and began ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Sweets, Sunbeam, Surf, Cadette and Orchid. I started in rainbow order, but then decided that I didn’t want all of the heart to look the same, so I began mixing up the colors a little bit. Instead of starting with the pink, I started with the blue, and so forth.

I continued through the stencils until the panel was complete. I used the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles to trim the panel down, which left some white areas at the top and bottom. To remedy this, I just added more hearts to those areas, once again mixing up the colors so that everything wasn’t uniform. For a little added interest, I used a Copic Multiliner to draw double lines around each heart.

The sentiment, which is from the SSS XL Greetings 3, was stamped on black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat set using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to trim that out, along with two additional cuts and adhered all of those together using liquid glue. The sentiment was then glued directly atop the panel in the center. For some added bling, I added a few PFS Ice Clear Drops.

To finish up, the heart panel was adhered to a black panel using foam tape and then adhered to the card base.

That does it for this one! I really love all of the different hearts, and adding the black detail around the hearts made a huge difference, in my opinion. Thanks again for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful day, and don’t forget to stay awesome!

Simon Says Stamp You’re Amazing

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I’m so glad that you’re here! Today’s card is featuring the Friendship Leafy Cluster Stamp and Stencil from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Sweetheart. Have you checked out the release yet? What are your favorites? I had a lot of fun with the ink blending on this one, so let’s go through the details!

I began by stamping the leaf clusters on some Neenah 110lb cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and heat setting them using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I then began the ink blending with the stencil using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Bubblegum, Lemonade, Seafoam and Lilac. Once the ink blending was complete, I fussy cut the leaves and set them aside while I figured out the rest of the card.

I pulled a panel from the SSS Color Blend Pastel cardstock pack and used the SSS Dibble Dot Embossing Folder on it. That was then adhered to a black panel for contrast. I stamped the sentiment, which is from the SSS XL Greetings 2 set, on a scrap of black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat set that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I then used the coordinating die to trim it out, along with two additional cuts, and adhered all of those together using liquid glue.

The leafy clusters were then adhered to the embossed panel using foam tape, trimming off the excess, and the sentiment was glued directly atop the leaves. Everything was then adhered to the card base to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it! I really like how this one turned out, and am really happy with the colors. Thanks again for stopping by! Have a wonderful day, and don’t forget to stay awesome!

Simon Says Stamp Sending Love XO

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! I’m back today with a card featuring the new Acetate Hearts Foil Transfer Cards from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Sweetheart. This card is so simple, but I love the results that I got! Let’s run through the details!

To begin, I pulled out the Minc Mini and some pink foil. I cut a panel of foil while the Minc was heating up, and placed the acetate panel and the foil inside the transfer envelope and fed it through when the machine was heated and ready. I ended up using heat setting four because this yielded better results for me.

I trimmed a panel of patterned paper and applied small dots of glue on the back side of the Xs and Os, and then adhered that to the paper. This was then adhered to a panel of black cardstock for contrast.

I stamped the sentiment, which is from the SSS XL Love Greetings set, onto black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat set that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to trim that out, along with two additional cuts and adhered all of those together using liquid glue.

The sentiment was adhered atop the acetate with glue and everything was then adhered to the card base using foam tape.

That does it for this card! Like I said, super simple! Using patterned paper can yield some amazing results and make it look like you spend hours on a project, when you really only spent a few minutes! I hope you like this project, and I hope it inspires you to get crafty, maybe even with some of your patterned paper! Thanks again for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Floral Take Care

Hello Crafty Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by! Simon Says Stamp is having a fun Instagram Hop happening today to celebrate the DieCember release, with lots of chances to win a $25 gift card to their store. Who doesn’t love gift cards, am I right?! All you have to do is comment along the hop for your chance to win. My card for the hop is featuring the new Soaring Whirl Bird from the DieCember release. So, let’s run through the details, shall we?

There are lots of elements to this card, but I began by die cutting several flowers using the SSS Layered Dandy Flower from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I also used the SSS Etched Berry Branch to cut a few leaves from SSS Green Apple Cardstock. To add color to the flowers, I did some very light ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Bubblegum. For the center portions of the flowers, I used a slightly heavier hand to make the pink just a tad bit darker, and I used Lemonade ink to color the tiny portion of the centers. Once the flowers were colored, I adhered the pieces together using liquid glue. To add some shading to the leaves, I used SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Seafoam and Surf. You wouldn’t think that those colors work with the green cardstock, but I like the way those turned out.

Moving on, I die cut the SSS Soaring whirl Bird from Neenah 110lb cardstock and did some ink blending using those same Seafoam and Surf colors, along with some Celery for the hint of green. For the background of the card, I used the SSS Wooden Planks Embossing Folder to emboss a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock.

I knew that I wanted the leaves to make a semi-circle on the front of the card, so I began playing around with the placement of the leaves and the flowers. Once satisfied, I adhered the elements to the panel using liquid glue. There were a few bare spots, so I used extra leaves and tucked those in for a fuller look. I adhered the bird towards the bottom of the panel before adhering it to the card base using foam tape. I also added a black crystal to the eye of the bird, which gave a great contrast.

Now that I had all of my elements laid out, I needed a sentiment that would fit in that space, so I went searching and landing on the SSS Take Care sentiment. I die cut that three times from black cardstock and adhered all of those together before adding to the card. To finish up the card, I added PFS Jewels to the “berry” areas, and I really like that added bit of sparkle to the card.

That finishes up this card! I hope you like it, and I hope it inspires you to get creative in your space! I’m sure there are many of you like me that don’t always love every card that you make, but I really love how this one turned out! Don’t forget to head over to Instagram to comment along the hop for your chance to win a $25 gift card to the Simon Says Stamp store! Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day! Stay awesome, Friend!

Let Your Dreams Blossom

Hello Crafters and welcome back! There’s a super fun Instagram hop going on featuring some of the new products from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Just a Note. Be sure to head over there to check it out and comment along the way for your chance to win a $25 gift card from Simon. Who doesn’t love gift cards, right?! My project for today is featuring the new Plant Sentiments stamp set, so let’s run through the details, shall we?

To begin this card, I stamped some florals from the SSS Best Friend Ever set onto some Neenah 110lb cardstock using VersaMark Ink. I then heat set that using Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder. Once those were stamped, I used the coordinating die to trim them out and added color using Copic Markers R30, RV00, RV91, YG05, YG13, and YG63.

I used the Let Your Dream Blossom sentiment from the SSS Plant Sentiments set and stamped that on black cardstock using VersaMark Ink, and embossed that using the same gold embossing powder. Once that was done, I did end up fussy cutting the sentiment out. I used the SSS Detail Petal Plate to cut the background and did some very light ink blending on the corners using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Celery.

I played around with the placement and decided that I needed some leaves, which happens quite a bit for me! I used the SSS Windswept Leaves and cut a couple of those. To assemble the card, I adhered the leaves using liquid glue and adhered the florals using foam tape for added dimension. For portions that I cut off, I added some of those around the edges as well.

The sentiment was also adhered using foam tape before adhering the entire panel to a black panel. I like using black panels for the contrast that it provides. Everything was adhered to the card base, and I added some clear drops for a little added bling.

That finishes up this project. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope it inspires some of your creativity! Don’t forget to head over to Instagram to hop along leaving comments for your chance to win a gift card. And, be sure to check out the entire Just a Note release for lots of inspiration on the Simon website. Have a wonderful day, and stay awesome friend!

Full Bloom Sunrise Stem

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for stopping by. Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Just a Note, is live, and I’m back today with a card featuring the new Plant Sentiments stamp set. Since I gravitate towards flowers, I was super happy to receive a sentiment set that would coordinate. So, let’s run through the details for this one.

I began this card by die cutting three of the SSS Sunrise Stem flowers from Neenah 110lb cardstock. To add color to the flowers, I did some ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Celery, Limelicious, Lemonade, Sunbeam and Lilac.

Once the flowers had some color, I cut a background using the SSS Stitched Whirl Background and set that aside while I worked on the sentiment. I selected a sentiment from the SSS Plant Sentiments set, and stamped that onto some black cardstock using VersaMark Ink. I then heat set it using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder and hand trimmed it out.

I assembled the flowers using liquid glue and then arranged them atop the background and adhered those to the panel. I then figured out the placement for the sentiment and adhered that using foam tape for a little added dimension. The panel was then adhered to a black panel for contrast before being adhered to the card base. I also added a few clear drops for added interest.

That does it for this project. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope it inspires you to get crafty in your space. Be sure to check out the entire Just a Note release over on Simon’s website, because there’s lots of fun things to look at and be inspired by. Have a wonderful day and don’t forget to stay awesome!

Framed English Garden

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! I spent some time not too long ago playing with some PinkFresh Studio Washi Tapes, and today’s project is a product of that playtime! So, let’s run through the detail, shall we?

To begin, I adhered a portion of the PFS English Garden Washi Tape to a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and used the coordinating die to trim those pieces out. I then used the PFS Sparkling Diamonds cover plate to cut another panel of Neenah to use for the background.

I also pulled out a scrap and used the PFS Stitched Scalloped Rectangles to cut one of the smaller rectangles from this set. I set all of these pieces aside while I worked on the sentiment, and for that I used the PFS Scripted Sentiments. I used gold hot foil to foil the sentiment and used the coordinating die to trim it out. I cut two additional sentiments and adhered those together to make it a bit more sturdy and to add more dimension.

To assemble the card, I adhered the frame to the background panel using foam tape, placing some of the washi tape pieces underneath it. I adhered the additional pieces atop the frame using liquid glue. I decided that it needed some additional leaves, so I used the PFS Leafy Branch and cut a few from Neenah and tucked those behind the flowers, securing with glue.

I adhered the sentiment, offset from the frame just a little bit, using a combination of glue and foam tape. The panel was then adhered to the card base before adding a few PFS Gold Metallic Pearls to finish up.

I really enjoy working with the PinkFresh Studio washi tapes, because beautiful cards come together so effortlessly! They have so many to choose from and each one is gorgeous in its own way! I hope you enjoyed this project, and I hope it inspires you to get crafty in your space. As always, have a wonderful day and don’t forget to stay awesome!

Sending My Love Icon

Hello and welcome back! So glad that you could stop by today to check out another card featuring the new SSS Happy Icons stamp set, which is from their latest release, Out of This World. Let’s run through the details, shall we?

To begin, I stamped one of the stamps from the SSS Happy Icons stamp set onto a scrap of Neenah 110lb cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set that using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I repeated that process for a second time to get a smoother finish on the embossing. Once done, I used scissors to trim the image down to actual size.

I pulled out the SSS Friendship Text Background stamp and stamped that onto a panel using PFS Misty Coast ink and trimmed it down using the SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames. I foiled this sentiment from Spellbinders Yana’s Sentiments using silver foil onto black cardstock and trimmed it out using the included coordinating die. I cut it an additional two times and glued all of those together for added dimension.

Before assembling the card, I splattered the card base using acrylic ink. The text background was adhered and the Happy Icon was adhered atop that using foam tape, and the sentiment was glued in place.

That finishes up this project! I hope you enjoyed it! Don’t forget to check out the entire Out of This World release! Thanks again for stopping by and as always, stay awesome!

So Appreciate You

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for stopping by! Today’s project is featuring the new Pawsitively Saturated Ink Cubes in Yellow Sunsets, from Simon Says Stamps’s latest release, Out of This World. Have you checked it out yet? What are your favorites? I would love to know what they are. Let’s run through the details for today’s project!

I began with a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and swiped the SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink Cubes, from the Yellow Sunsets, across the panel. The colors that I used were Lemonade, Sunbeam, Citrine, Melon and Cantaloupe. Once that was done, I used the SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames to trim it down. I used a larger frame to trim a panel of black cardstock as well.

The black and yellow was really speaking to me, so I used the SSS Etched Crocus Stems and cut some of those from black cardstock. I used a white gel pen to add some detail to the flowers before adhering them to the yellow panel with liquid glue. I used a sentiment from the SSS Reverse Gratitude Sentiment Strips and used foam tape to adhere that.

The yellow panel was then adhered to the black panel before being adhered to the card base. To finish up, I added some clear drops for a little bit of added interest.

Super simple project today, but simple cards are sometimes all that you need, or all that you feel like making for that day. Not every card has to be an elaborate undertaking to create. I hope you enjoyed this project, and I hope it inspires you to get creative in your space! Don’t forget to check out the entire Out of This World release, and don’t forget to stay awesome! Have yourself a wonderful day!
