Simon Says Stamp Just Because Cosmos

Hello Friends, and thanks for joining me! The newest Simon release, Splendor, is live, and I’m back today with a card featuring the new Lots of Luck Stamp and Die set. Let’s not waste and time, and go through the details for this one!

I began this card by die cutting a bunch of petals from colored cardstock and a few centers from Neenah 110lb cardstock using the SSS Cosmo Flower Petals. Once those were cut, I did some ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Sweets, Cantaloupe, Sunbeam, Surf, Marine and Lilac. While ink blending, I did concentrate more color towards the centers of the flowers for added depth and dimension. To assemble the flowers, I adhered the petals to the back of a die cut center using liquid glue, and then adhered the solid center behind that.

All floral cards need some type of leaves in my opinion, so I die cut a few leaves from gold cardstock using the SSS Privet Branch. I then used the SSS Stitched Rectangles to create a frame from Neenah 110lb cardstock as well.

The sentiment is from the new SSS Lots of Luck set and was stamped using VersaMark Ink and heat set using Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to trim it out, along with two additional cuts and adhered all of those together using liquid glue.

Let’s assemble this card! First thing’s first, the card base needed some gold splatter! Once that was dry, I adhered the frame using SSS 3D Foam Strips. I positioned the flowers atop the card, secured the leaves with glue, and then secured the flowers with foam tape. The sentiment was then adhered with the foam strips. I felt this card had enough going on and did not add any additional bling.

Simon Says Stamp Lucky Mosaic Tulips

Hello Crafty Friends and welcome back to my blog! I’m so glad that you stopped by! Simon’s latest release, Splendor, is live and I’m featuring a card today using the new Mosaic Tulips Stencil, along with the Fancy Lucky die and the Lucky Sentiment Strips. Let’s get to the details!

I began this project by pulling a card from my Color Cubes to get some inspiration. Once decided, I taped down the stencil and a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and began ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Heather and Morning. The third color that I used is C&9th Aqua Sky. This is a three-stencil set, and I used one color for each stencil. For the tulips, I did go back through and use a heavier hand for the centers of the tulips for a little shading dimension.

Once the ink blending was complete, I trimmed it down using the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles. I die cut the SSS Fancy Lucky Die once from SSS Matte Silver cardstock and three times from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I also cut the shadow twice and adhered all of those together using liquid glue. I also selected a sub-sentiment from the new SSS Lucky Sentiment Strips.

To assemble the card, I adhered the Lucky sentiment and the sub-sentiment using SSS 3D Foam Strips. The panel was then adhered to the card base using foam tape. Yes, this card has lots of dimension, but I love dimension! To finish up, I added a few silver pearls for added interest.

Simon Says Stamp Lucky to Have a Friend Like You

Hello Friends, and welcome back! I appreciate you stopping by to check out today’s project featuring a stamp set from Simon Says Stamps’s latest release, Splendor. Have you checked it out yet? I’d love to know your favorites! This project has a sentiment from the Lots of Luck Stamp Set. This set also includes some florals and clovers, but I’m just using a sentiment today. Let’s run through the details.

Lots of stamp sets include florals and such with the sentiments, and this is just a reminder that you can combine components from a set with other things and products, like I did with this card. This is a very simple card, but I love how it turned out! I began this card by cutting a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using the SSS Postage Stamp Edge dies, and splattering it with some gold acrylic ink. I set that aside to dry while I worked on the other elements of the card.

I bought these dried florals at a “big box” craft store, and trimmed them down so that they would fit onto an A2 card panel. These particular flowers are more neutral in color, as you can tell, but I did purchase some more colorful varieties from Amazon that I’ll be using for future projects. I’ll link to those below.

Moving on, I stamped this sentiment from the SSS Lots of Luck stamp set using VersaMark Ink and heat set that using Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder, and trimmed it out with the coordinating die. I did trim it two more times and adhered all of those layers together using liquid glue for a stacked sentiment.

To make the seal, I used gold wax beads and the Spellbinders Wax Seal Kit. I did not use the wax seal stamp included in the system, but one that I had purchased separately. I positioned the dried flowers on my card panel and then poured the melted wax on top and placed the handle on top of that. I then adhered the sentiment atop the wax using SSS 3D Foam Strips, and the panel was then adhered to the card base using foam tape. To add a little bit more interest, I added some cream colored Tiny Hearts.

That finishes up this one. Like I said, this is a super simple card, but pretty and unique, all at the same time. While I had the wax system out, I went ahead and made several panels that are ready to go when needed. I hope you enjoyed this card, and I hope it inspires you to get crafty in your space. BetterPress Magnolia Florals

Hello Friend! I’m so glad that you stopped by! Today, I’m sharing a card using various products, including the BetterPress Letterpress System. I’ve had my BetterPress system for quite a while, but haven’t used it too much until recently. Not too long ago, I posted a black and white card design for Simon Says Stamp, and I really loved it and wanted to try another black and white design. So, let’s run through the details of this one.

To begin, I used the SSS Etched Magnolia Blossom to cut two flowers from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and I cut a few leaves using the SSS Windswept Leaves from the same cardstock. I then did some very light ink blending on the flowers using C&9th Dove ink. I did go back and cut the centers of the flowers using black cardstock, because I liked the contrast. Once the ink blending was complete, I assembled the flowers using liquid glue.

For the background, I used the Spellbinders So Grateful For You Press Plate, black ink and a BetterPress A2 card panel. I inked up the plate and ran it through the die cutting machine to make the impression. I did end up trimming the panel down ever so slightly and mounted that onto a black cardstock panel.

I thought the panel needed a frame, so I used the PFS Folk Edge Rectangles and cut one of those from black cardstock and glued it to the background panel. Moving on to the sentiment, I used the SSS XL Love Greetings and stamped on black cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat set that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I then used the coordinating die to trim that out, along with two additional cuts for a stacked sentiment.

Let’s assemble this card! I adhered the sentiment in the center of the panel using liquid glue, and arranged the leaves adhering those with glue as well. The flowers were then adhered atop the leaves using foam tape for a little added dimension. Everything was then adhered to the card base using dot tape runner. To finish up, I added some clear drops for additional interest.

That finishes up this one! Like I said, I’ve had my BetterPress for a while now, but am just starting to use it. Mainly because I ordered some sentiments for it, and have really been enjoying those. Scrap Paper Crocus Stems

Hello Friend, and thanks for swinging by! I recently came across Ashild Halvorsen on Instagram where she was using scraps of her gel prints to make “scrap tape.” I don’t have a bunch of gel prints, but I do have a bunch of scraps of patterned paper, and I thought this would be a cute idea to use some of them up. I’m sure if you’re like me, you have an over abundance of scraps as well! Let’s run through the details for these cards.

Ashild used tape for her strips, but I wanted mine to be larger, so I cut panels of Neenah 110lb cardstock to 3.5″ x 4.75″. I also took a pile of my scraps and cut them into various strips, with no regard for how thick or thin they were, just cutting. I then used some dot tape runner to cover the panels and began laying down the strips. I ended up making eight panels, but I have enough strips to make about eighteen more!

I layered some of the panels with black cardstock for a bit of a contrast, and splattered some of the card bases for additional interest. I used the SSS Etched Crocus Stems to cut several flowers in black and white and adhered those using liquid glue. I also used various sentiments that I thought would work for this design as well. I will list all of the products used below, if you’d like to reference them. All of the strip panels were adhered using foam tape for additional dimension.

I just really loved this idea for using some of the scrap papers that have accumulated in my drawer, and I’m so glad that I stumbled across Ashild’s account! Simon Says Stamp Hello Stems

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for stopping by! Today’s project is featuring the new Whirl Diamond Plate from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Sweetheart. So, let’s jump right into the details!

I began this card by cutting three SSS Sunrise Stems from Neenah 110lb cardstock. While I was cutting, I went ahead and cut the SSS Whirl Diamond Plate from a panel of black cardstock. I did some ink blending on the flowers using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Seafoam, Surf, Celery, Pearfection, Lemonade and Sunbeam.

Once all of the ink blending was done, I adhered the pieces of the flowers together using liquid glue. At this point, I did not adhere the flowers to the stems, because I was figuring out placement and deciding if I was going to need to trim some of the leaves off.

Before adhering the Whirl Diamond die cut to another panel of black cardstock, I splattered the panel with some gold acrylic ink for just a touch of added interest. Once that was dry, I adhered the die cut panel using liquid glue. I determined the placement of the florals, trimmed off a few leaves as necessary, and adhered the stems and flowers to the panel.

It was bothering me that I did not have three stems extending all the way to the bottom of the panel, because of placement on the card. To remedy this, I die cut the bottom of the stem two more times and ink blended them to match. I then tucked and glued the bottom portion so that I had three stems extending the length of the panel. That’s just me being a tad bit anal. What can I say?

I die cut the SSS Script Hello once from gold cardstock, cut the shadow three times from black cardstock and adhered them all together for a stacked sentiment. The sentiment was then adhered to the panel using foam tape. For a little bling, I added a few PFS Gold Metallic Pearls before adhering the panel to the card base.

That finishes up this project! I hope you enjoyed it! I love the look of bright florals against a black background. I think it’s so dramatic and beautiful. I love the color scheme of this card. I ended up using a thank you sentiment, but I think these colors would lend themselves well to a sympathy card as well. I began this card by cutting three flowers using the SSS Etched Magnolia Blossom set from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I did some ink blending on each layer of the blossom using PFS Misty Coast ink. Once the ink blending was complete, I adhered all of the layers together using liquid glue. In the process of assembling the flowers, I decided that the center of the blossoms would be better in black, so I cut a few of those.

Moving ahead, and working on the other elements of the card, I cut the SSS Whirl Diamond Plate from Neenah 110lb cardstock and glued that to a panel of SSS Fog cardstock. I played around with the placement of the florals and decided that I needed some black leaves and used the SSS Eucalyptus Leaves die for that. I adhered the florals to the panel using foam tape and glued the leaves underneath.

For the sentiment, I used the SSS XL Greetings 3 set and stamped it on black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat set that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I then used the coordinating die to trim it out, along with two others and adhered all of those together, for added dimension.

The sentiment was adhered to the panel using foam tape and the panel was adhered to the card base using foam tape as well. To finish up, I added some white pearls for a little bit of added interest.

Floral Take Care

Hello Crafty Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by! Simon Says Stamp is having a fun Instagram Hop happening today to celebrate the DieCember release, with lots of chances to win a $25 gift card to their store. Who doesn’t love gift cards, am I right?! All you have to do is comment along the hop for your chance to win. My card for the hop is featuring the new Soaring Whirl Bird from the DieCember release. So, let’s run through the details, shall we?

There are lots of elements to this card, but I began by die cutting several flowers using the SSS Layered Dandy Flower from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I also used the SSS Etched Berry Branch to cut a few leaves from SSS Green Apple Cardstock. To add color to the flowers, I did some very light ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Bubblegum. For the center portions of the flowers, I used a slightly heavier hand to make the pink just a tad bit darker, and I used Lemonade ink to color the tiny portion of the centers. Once the flowers were colored, I adhered the pieces together using liquid glue. To add some shading to the leaves, I used SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Seafoam and Surf. You wouldn’t think that those colors work with the green cardstock, but I like the way those turned out.

Moving on, I die cut the SSS Soaring whirl Bird from Neenah 110lb cardstock and did some ink blending using those same Seafoam and Surf colors, along with some Celery for the hint of green. For the background of the card, I used the SSS Wooden Planks Embossing Folder to emboss a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock.

I knew that I wanted the leaves to make a semi-circle on the front of the card, so I began playing around with the placement of the leaves and the flowers. Once satisfied, I adhered the elements to the panel using liquid glue. There were a few bare spots, so I used extra leaves and tucked those in for a fuller look. I adhered the bird towards the bottom of the panel before adhering it to the card base using foam tape. I also added a black crystal to the eye of the bird, which gave a great contrast.

Now that I had all of my elements laid out, I needed a sentiment that would fit in that space, so I went searching and landing on the SSS Take Care sentiment. I die cut that three times from black cardstock and adhered all of those together before adding to the card. To finish up the card, I added PFS Jewels to the “berry” areas, and I really like that added bit of sparkle to the card.

STAMPtember Butterfly Rose Bouquet

Hello, and welcome to my blog! I’m so happy that you dropped by! It’s that time of year again when STAMPtember is upon us. One of the best months of the year! There’s so many new products, and so much inspiration to draw from, not to mention all of the collaboration sets that will debut soon. With the release of all the STAMPtember products, Simon Says Stamp is hosting a huge blog party with codes for free gifts and gifts with purchase! For my card today, I’m featuring the new Billow Butterfly, so let’s run through the details.

To begin, I stamped the floral image from the SSS Orchid Rose Bouquet on a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using PFS Misty Coast Ink. I chose this ink, because I wanted a very light background that didn’t distract from the focal point of the card. I then trimmed the panel down using the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles, and cut so that the floral image was on the bottom portion of my card panel.

I used the SSS Etched Eucalyptus Wreath and cut three of those from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and adhered them together using liquid glue. Next, I used the new SSS Billow Butterfly to cut some of the butterflies from some scrap Tim Holtz patterned paper that I had hanging around in my stash. This die is super cool, because it’s one piece that cuts several different butterflies, including solid butterflies as well as, outline butterflies. I opted for the solid for this particular project, because I wanted to be able to see the print of the patterned paper. Once the butterflies were cut, I adhered the bodies using liquid glue and moved on to working on the sentiment.

For the sentiment, I used the thank you die, which is from the SSS Handlettered Greetings set. I die cut the sentiment once from Burnished Rose cardstock, and four times from Neenah 110lb, and adhered all of those together. I wanted the sentiment to be thick, so that it would be sturdy.

To assemble the card, I glued the wreath to the stamped panel, and then glued the patterned butterflies atop the wreath. The butterflies are only glued down at the bodies, so that their wings could be curled for added dimension. Once those were in place, I adhered the sentiment only where it comes into contact with the wreath, hence wanting a thicker sentiment for sturdiness. I trimmed off the excess portions of the sentiment and added some clear drops for a little shine. The panel was then adhered to the card base using foam tape.

Birthday Checking In

Hello Crafty Friends and thanks for stopping by! STAMPtember has arrived! Are you excited? Have you checked out the release yet? What are your favorites? I would love to know in the comments! I’m here today with a card featuring the brand new Checking In stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. So, let’s go through the details, shall we?

I began by stamping the floral image from the SSS Checking In set onto a panel of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock in the corners using VersaMark Ink and heat setting that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. Once the stamping was done, I used the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles to trim the panel down.

To add color to the flowers, I used a white colored pencil, as well as a graphite pencil and a blending stump. After the coloring was completed, I splattered the panel using White Acrylic Ink.

For the sentiment, I opted for the SSS Happy Birthday Brush Script and cut that three times from black cardstock, adhering them all together using liquid glue. I then adhered the sentiment to my panel between the florals and added some pearls for a little added interest.

To finish up, the stamped panel was adhered to a black panel for contact using foam tape, and that was then adhered to the card base.

Super simple card, but I like the monochromatic tone of the finished project. I hope you enjoyed it as well.
