Simon Says Stamp Happy Mail

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Today’s project is featuring the Tall Happy Cover from Simon’s latest release, Shine On. I’ve had these tiny envelope shaker bits in my stash and thought they would be a perfect fit for this card! Let’s run through the deets!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

The background for this card is a panel of patterned paper from 49 and Market that I added some rub-on transfers to for some added interest, as well as some black splatter. I believe this paper might be sold out, but they make TONS of gorgeous papers, and I’m sure you could find something that would suit your style! I die cut the happy from black cardstock and adhered a panel of acetate to the back using liquid glue. I then added foam strips around the perimeter and behind some of the letters, creating little compartments for the envelope shaker bits.

I added the shaker bits to the acetate side, placed that in my Misti and then carefully added the back panel. I used the Misti because I knew that I would never get it lined up correctly otherwise! The shaker was then adhered to the card base. I die cut the postmark three times from red cardstock, adhered all of the together and created the ‘mail’ from a label maker to finish up.

I had some tidbits of this gorgeous, vintage inspired patterned paper leftover and decided to create some cards using the Artful Palette dies from @simonsaysstamp. I also used the stencils as a guide for the layout, because I’m just not that talented .. 🤪. I was quite amazed at how many cards that I created from these little scraps that I had leftover, plus it kind of made me look at my scraps a little bit differently knowing that I could create something beautiful from basically nothing. When the background does all the work, you only need a sentiment! I find this to be the case most of the time when working with @49andmarket washi tapes! They are perfect for creating super quick, yet beautiful cards when you’re needing to add to your stash. Simon Says Stamp Tattered Florals

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I’m back today with a project featuring and older floral die set from Simon. This set has several pieces to it, which includes a detail die cut, the solid petal die cut and the center die cut. For this project, I only used the solid petal die cut. Let’s go through the deets!

I pulled a panel of watercolor paper and added some very soft rainbow colors and let those mix to create the oranges and purples. Once that was dry, I did some splatter using Dina Wakely Gloss Sprays, which I guess have been discontinued on Simon’s website, as well as lots of gold splatter. I did some stamping on the panel using the Crackle Background along with a Tim Holtz set.

Once all of that was complete, I die cut bunches of petals from the Cosmo Flower Petals set, which has been discontinued, and distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser tool. My apologies for using a set that has been discontinued, I was not aware that it was no longer available. I’ll try to find another flower that can be used in the same way. The centers of the flowers were cut using black cardstock and the petals were secured in place using liquid glue. I did opt to add Glossy Accents to a couple of the flower centers for some added interest.

The background panels were cut using the Stitched Rectangles along with some gold splatter on those as well. They were secured to the card base, the flowers were added and some sentiment strips were added to finish up.

Simon Says Stamp Amazing Floral

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I recently ordered the Wild & Free Flowers product suite and promptly made a card with it using some darker colors. Let’s run through the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by stamping one of the florals onto a panel of Neenah cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat setting it with clear embossing powder. I then used the stencils to do some ink blending using Seafoam, Surf, Ocean, Sprout, Fairway and Field. Once that was complete, I used the coordinating dies to trim out the image.

I knew that I wanted a dark background, so I pulled some Forest cardstock and cut a panel of that using the Sparkler Scallop Frames with a good dose of white splatter. I also cut another panel of Forest cardstock for the other background. The sentiment was stamped using VersaMark Ink, heat set using white embossing powder and trimmed out several times for a stacked sentiment.

The splattered background was adhered to the other Forest background using foam tape for a bit of added dimension, while the flower was adhered using thin foam squares, and the sentiment was glued directly to the panel. I added some dew drops to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you like it! I really love working with darker colors, but don’t do it that often, so maybe I need to mix that in a bit more! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Butterflies

Welcome back crafty friends! So glad you stopped by to check out today’s project featuring the Dewpierce Butterfly once again. I’ve had so much fun creating with this die, and it’s probably getting about time to put it away for a little bit, and move on to something else! Anyway, let’s go ahead and run through the details for this one!

I began this project by die cutting the butterflies from yellow and black cardstock and ink blended the edges using Honey ink. Those were assembled and set aside while I worked on the rest of the card. The background panel was actually a panel that I already had in my stash which had yellow splatter on it, so I just added some black splatter.

I die cut the filmstrip from black, added the PET Tape to the panel and then secured the filmstrip over the tape with liquid glue. The sentiment was stamped using VersaMark ink, heat set using gold embossing powder and trimmed out three times for a stacked sentiment.

The splattered panel was adhered to a black panel with foam tape for contrast, the sentiment was glued in place, as were the butterflies to finish up.

That does it for this project! Do you ever have panels lying around and feel a sense of accomplishment when you can finally find it a home?! That was my feeling with this one! And, I just love the butterflies AND the PET Tape. Thanks again for joining me, and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Simon Says Stamp Graceful Hugs

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Today’s post is a pretty, pastel floral featuring the Graceful Flowers stamp set that I picked up while I was at the CREATE event back in April. Let’s go ahead and run through the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by stamping the floral onto a panel of watercolor paper using VersaMark ink and heat setting that using white embossing powder. I then pulled the Bubblegum, Seafoam and Zest inks to do some simple watercoloring. I smooshed the ink onto my glass mat and added the ink to the image using a water brush. When done with that, I used the coordinating die to trim it out. I did add a little bit of black detail to the centers of the flowers using a Copic Multliner pen to bring out some of those details.

The background panel was created by cutting a panel of seafoam cardstock using the Teardrop Pinpoint Frames and giving it a good dose of white splatter. You guys know that I always need more leaves, so I pulled the Lush Leaves die and cut that from white and silver cardstock. The sentiment was stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set using clear embossing powder.

The background panel was added to the card base, the silver leaves were secured with liquid glue, then the white leaves, the floral was adhered with foam tape, the sentiment was secured and some dew drops were added to finish up this project.

Simon Says Stamp Hello Butterflies

Hello Friends, and welcome back! I got myself into a grungy, creative mood, so I created another card featuring the Dewpierce Butterfly from Simon’s latest release, Always There. There’s quite a bit going on, so let’s jump right in to it!

I began by die cutting the butterfly once from pink, aqua and purple cardstock and die cutting the body from black. I did some ink blending on the edges of the butterflies using Carnation, Heather and Surf inks. Those were then assembled using liquid glue and set aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

I pulled a panel of watercolor paper and a water brush and loosely added those same inks to the panel I just smooshed the ink onto my glass mat and added it from there. No paints were involved, just ink pads. I dried the panel using my heat tool and then did some stamping using Archival Black ink and the Simon Crackle Background, as well as the Tim Holtz Professor 2 set. A healthy dose of black splatter was also added before distressing the edges of the paper.

Now, here’s the part that I’m not so happy with, but it is what it is. I pulled the Simon Large Chevron Stencil, which is discontinued, along with some Translucent Gloss Crackle Paste and applied that to my panel in three different areas. As far as I can tell, it did not crackle, it just added some clear gloss. I guess in hindsight, it would have been better to maybe use opaque crackle paste .. I’m not sure, I’ll have to try it again at some point.

Some PET Tape was added to one side of the panel for some added visual interest, as well as to bring all of the black elements together. I decided that I wanted some darker ink on the panel, so I pulled Sweets, Iris and Ocean inks. The same smooshing on the glass mat occurred, and I dabbed a plastic bag, with a wadded up paper towel inside, into some water and then into the ink and lightly smooshed that onto the panel. The butterflies needed a bit of splatter too, so I used those same darker inks and splattered those with a paintbrush before being adhered to the card with foam tape. A sentiment strip was added to the middle to finish up this project.

Simon Says Stamp Butterfly Hugs

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back to my blog! There’s a fun Simon Says Stamp Instagram Hop going on today to celebrate the latest Always There release! You don’t want to miss it! Comment along the hop for your chance to win a Simon gift card! My project today is featuring the new Dewpierce Butterfly with some grunge, so let’s go ahead and go through the deets!

I began this project by selecting a piece of patterned paper from the TH Abandoned set and trimming it down with the A2 Postage Rectangles. I added a few rub-on transfers from a 49 and Market set along with some black splatter. I knew that I wanted some texture on the paper, so I pulled a TH stencil, mixed some Salvaged Patina paint with some Transparent Texture Paste. After applying the paste, I set that aside to dry while I worked on the butterflies.

I die cut the butterflies from Neenah and did some ink blending on those using Carnation, Zest and Ocean inks. The butterflies were assembled and I added the black bodies, as well as some polka dot details using a Copic Multiliner pen. For some added contrast, I cut the butterflies again using black cardstock and adhered those pieces to my colored butterflies using liquid glue.

The Scripty Hugs sentiment was cut three times from black cardstock and adhered together for that stacked sentiment that we all love! My panel was adhered to some black cardstock then adhered to the card base, the sentiment was glued in place and the butterflies were secured with foam tape to finish up.

This was a pretty simple card to make, because the patterned paper and texture paste are doing most of the work! I hope you enjoyed this project! Simon Says Stamp Black Out Peony

Hello Friends, and welcome back to my blog! Today’s project is once again featuring the Peony and Bells Embossing Folder and Die from Simon’s latest release, Always There. Let’s get into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by embossing the folder onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and ink blending using Bubblegum, Carnation and Celery inks. Once satisfied with the ink blending, I used a black ink pad to rub over the raised portion of the panel.

The sentiment was stamped onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat set using white embossing powder. I used the coordinating die to trim it out three times for a stacked sentiment.

The sentiment and dew drops were secured with liquid glue to finish up this project. A super simple project, but I love the look of the black next to the pink and green!

I had some tidbits of this gorgeous, vintage inspired patterned paper leftover and decided to create some cards using the Artful Palette dies from @simonsaysstamp. I also used the stencils as a guide for the layout, because I’m just not that talented .. 🤪. I was quite amazed at how many cards that I created from these little scraps that I had leftover, plus it kind of made me look at my scraps a little bit differently knowing that I could create something beautiful from basically nothing. When the background does all the work, you only need a sentiment! I find this to be the case most of the time when working with @49andmarket washi tapes! They are perfect for creating super quick, yet beautiful cards when you’re needing to add to your stash. Simon Says Stamp Thanks Floral Hexagon

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for joining me! Today’s project is featuring the new Elongated Hexagons from Simon’s latest release, Always There. When I saw these hexagons, I knew that I wanted to create a floral card, because that’s what I do! Florals are my jam, and I just can’t help that! Let’s go ahead and go through the details for this project.

I began the project by die cutting my florals using the Aurora Blooms, which I happened to pick up while I was at CREATE. I did some ink blending on the flowers using Seafoam, Surf, Mint and Sun-kissed inks. Those were then assembled and set aside while I worked on the other elements of the card.

I die cut a frame using the Elongated Hexagons, added some light ink blending using the Seafoam ink and embossed that center portion using the Tiny Floral Embossing Folder. The Thanks, which is from a retired set, was cut once from gold cardstock and twice from Neenah for a stacked look, which we all love! Before assembling the card, I did some heavy white splatter on the leaves for some added interest.

The card base was gold splattered and the hexagons were adhered using liquid glue. The leaves were secured with glue as well, while the flowers were adhered using foam tape. The sentiment and gold pearls were added to finish up this project.

Simon Says Stamp Peony Hello

Hello there, and welcome back to my blog! The Always There release from Simon is live, and I’m back with a post featuring the new Peony & Bells Embossing Folder with Cutting Die. Let’s go ahead and get right into the details!

I began this project by embossing the peony onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock. I also cut a scrap of watercolor paper and embossed the die cut pieces with that. I used a water brush along with Bubblegum and Carnation ink to add color to the flowers. I just smooshed the ink onto my glass mat and dipped the brush there.

Once I was finished with the watercoloring, I used Copic markers G43, RV00 and RV10 to add color to the stems and other flowers. Before adhering the die cut flowers to the panel, I did some gold splatter for a bit more interest.

The large flower was adhered using foam tape, while the smaller flower stem was added with liquid glue. The sentiment, which is from a retired set, was cut once from gold cardstock and twice from Neenah 110lb for a stacked sentiment. That was secured with glue, along with a few dew drops to finish up.
