Simon Says Stamp Artsy Butterflies Text

Hello Friends, and welcome back! I’m so glad you stopped by today to check out this project featuring the Artsy Butterflies. Let’s get right into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

If you’re like me, you’re hoarding patterned paper like it’s never going to be made again, am I right?! I decided that I would part with a little bit of it, and stamp the Artsy Butterflies onto a panel of pastel marble paper from P13 using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder. I then used the coordinating dies to trim them out, along with a black layer as well. I will link to a similar patterned paper at the bottom of this post.

The background is a combination of things with the bottom layer being a panel of ColorBlend cardstock that was black splattered and then a panel of Dina Wakely transparency that I smeared with Distress Paint.

The sentiment was stamped using VersaMark ink, heat set using detail white embossing powder and trimmed out with three additional cuts for a stacked sentiment. I adhered the black butterfly to the stamped butterfly using foam squares, and then those were adhered to the transparency using strong double sided tape. To adhere the transparency to the colored panel, I put some strips of the same tape on the backside underneath the butterflies so that you wouldn’t be able to see it. The sentiment was secured with the same tape as well.

That does it for this project. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you have a great day!

Simon Says Stamp Grateful Heart

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Today’s post is featuring the new Crocus Duo from Simon’s latest release. This ended up being a twofer project, but I’m only writing about one of them today, so let’s go ahead and go through the details.

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I knew that I wanted my Crocus flowers to be purple, so I die cut the flowers several times from three different colors of purple cardstock. Once I had cut all of the flowers, I did some ink blending on them using Crocus and Lilac inks, and assembled them. The flowers are only two layers, but I cut an additional layer to be adhered to the back. While I was cutting, I did cut the stems and grass from green cardstock.

My background was created using a very old Simon background stamped onto a very pale blue cardstock using VersaMark Ink and heat embossing it with white powder. This is where the twofer part comes in to play. I die cut that blue panel using the Whirl Diamond Plate, but only used the inner circles for this project. I also die cut a panel of Moonflower cardstock using that same plate. Before assembling this part, I decided that I wanted those inner circles black splattered.

This background ended up being a little bit of work, but I think it was worth it in the end. I went ahead and glued the Moonflower panel to the card base, and inlaid the splattered blue circles. After playing with the flower arrangement, I decided that it might be pretty to add some grass pieces that were similar to the other cardstock colors that I was using.

The flowers were adhered using foam tape, while the stems and various leaves were secured with liquid glue. The sentiment was stamped, white heat embossed, trimmed out and adhered to the panel with glue as well. To finish up, I added some dew drops for added interest.

That does it for this project. I hope you like it! I’ll post the other project using the rest of the background at some later date. Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have an awesome day!

Simon Says Stamp Braided Greetings

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for joining me! Today’s projects are featuring the new Braided Embossing Folder from Simon’s latest release, In My Heart. These were super simple, so let’s quickly run through the deets!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began by running the embossing folder through the machine using Neenah cardstock to create two panels. I then did some ink blending on the panels using Carnation, Cadette, Surf, Limelicious, Sherbet and Orchid. Or at least that’s what I think that I used! I’m always really good about writing everything down, so I’m not quite sure what happened with these projects!

The sentiments were stamped using VersaMark ink, heat embossed using Detail White Embossing Powder and trimmed out four times for a stacked sentiment. I was unable to find one of the sets on the Simon website, so I assume that it was discontinued. I’m sorry about that, and I’m sad, because that was a really great set! The panels were trimmed down, adhered to a black panel and then the card base. Since the sentiments were stacked, I just went ahead and secured those using liquid glue to finish up.

Two quick cards for the win! These types of embossing folders are great for super quick cards, in my opinion. They look great ink blended with a simple sentiment. Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have an awesome day!

Simon Says Stamp Cute Duckling

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Today’s post is featuring the new Cute Duckling from Simon’s latest release, In My Heart. Let’s go ahead and run through the details for this one.

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting the pieces for the duckling from colored cardstock and adding some ink blending using Honey ink. I assembled the pieces and set that aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

The background was created using the A2 Postage Rectangles with some black splatter for added interest. The sentiment was stamped using VersaMark ink, heat set using white embossing powder and trimmed out several times for a stacked look. The panel was adhered to the card base, the sentiment was glued in place and the duckling was added with foam tape for added dimension.

That’s it for this one! A super quick, clean and simple card! Don’t forget to swing by and check out the entire In My Heart release over on Simon’s website. Thanks again for stopping by, and I hope you have an awesome day!

Simon Says Stamp Watercolor Wild Rose

Hello! Hello! Thanks so much for swinging by to check out today’s project featuring the new Wild Rose stamp set from Simon’s latest In My Heart release! Let’s get into it!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by stamping both of the florals onto a large panel using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat setting them with clear embossing powder. I then did a very loos watercolor wash over both and went back in with darker details and shadowing. Once everything was dry, I fussy cut both images, as I did not have the coordinating dies.

The background panels were created with black splatter and the Nested Stitched Rectangles. Both sentiments were stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat set using Detail White Embossing Powder and cut multiple times with the coordinating dies.

The florals were adhered using foam tape, while the sentiments were secured with liquid glue. I thought some clear drops were a nice finishing touch.

That does it for this one! I’m not very good at watercolor, but I enjoy it when I do give it a try. Don’t forget to check out the entire In My Heart release, and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Simon Says Stamp Striped Missing You

Hey There! Thanks so much for swinging by! Today’s project is featuring the new Missing You die from Simon’s latest release, In My Heart. It’s a super quick one, so let’s go ahead and go through the deets!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I already had a striped little panel in my stash that I had been saving for a card just like this! It was made using scrap cardstock and double sided tape. I went ahead and cut the Missing You from that little panel, cut it three times from black and adhered all of them together, offsetting the black ever so slightly.

My background panel was created using the A2 Nested Stitched Rectangles, a stamp from the Tim Holtz Brushstrokes set and Seafoam ink. The sentiment was adhered to the panel using liquid glue, and my card base was splattered with some Surf ink before the panel was adhered.

See, a super simple project for today! This was my first time using this Brushstrokes set, and I really kind of like it! It adds just the right amount of something behind a sentiment. Don’t forget to swing over to Simon’s website and check out the entire In My Heart release. Thanks again for swinging by, and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Simon Says Stamp Best Mom

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for stopping by! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Best Mom Background stamp from Simon’s latest release, In My Heart. Let’s go ahead and get into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by stamping the background onto a panel using PFS Misty Coast ink. My next step was to create a frame using the older Stitched Rectangles set. The flowers were cut from Neenah using the Hanging Leaf Ring set and the leaves from that set were cut using Smoke cardstock, while the Budding Branches were cut from Fog cardstock.

The flowers were ink blended using Bubblegum and Carnation inks. I applied different pressures to achieve different levels of ink intensity. The sentiment was stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and double heat embossed for a smoother finish. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate this particular stamp set on the Simon website, but they have other great sets for Mother’s Day. I’ll link to one that is very similar for your convenience. That was cut several times using the coordinating die for a stacked look, which I love.

Before the assembly process, I adhered a clear drop to the center of each flower for added interest. The background panel was trimmed down, the frame was adhered using foam tape, the leaves were added and then the flowers. The sentiment was secured with foam tape, with a few more flowers added around that and clear drops were added to the branches to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it! It was a labor of love, because I kept thinking of how much I would have loved to give this card to my Mom while I was making it. Anyhoo, I appreciate you stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Simon Says Stamp Latte Birthday Wishes

Hello Friends and thanks for stopping by! The In My Heart release from Simon is live, and I’m back today with a project featuring the new Thanks a Latte stamp and Scalloped Arches Frames. Let’s run through the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

When I saw the arches, I immediately thought of a shaker card, so that’s what I set out to create! I thought some cute coffee shaker bits would be fun, but I didn’t have any of those! So, Etsy to the rescue! I stamped the critter from the Thanks a Latte set with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, heat embossed it with clear powder, colored it with Copic markers and fussy cut the image. As a note, there are coordinating dies for this set. I also went ahead and stamped the sentiment onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink, heat set that with white powder and trimmed it down into a strip.

The arches were cut 6-7 times I believe. I cut a piece of acetate and secured it in place and glued another arch on top of it so that it would stay in place. I cut a larger arch and glued that to the card base, sprinkled the coffee shaker bits into the center and glued the stacked acetate arch atop that. There might have been an easier way to do this, but I couldn’t think of it, because the die also cuts out the center portion of the arch. If you can tell me a better way, please let me know!! Once everything was secured, I added the critter and the sentiment atop the acetate with strong double sided tape to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you like it, and I hope if you have a better way for assembly, that you’ll send me a message! Don’t forget to check out the entire In My Heart release! Thanks again for joining me, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Simon Says Stamp Thinking of You Whirl Butterflies

Hello Friends, and welcome back! I’ve had so much fun creating large watercolor panels with various stamping, drawing, splattering, etc lately! I made this panel using blues, greens and a little bit of pink, and I thought the Whirl Butterflies would be cool cut from it. Let’s go ahead and quickly run through the details.

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

The watercolor panel measures 9 x 12 inches, so I have lots to create cards with! I first added the watercolors to the panel beginning with one color and then adding the next color. I didn’t worry about drying the panel between applications, because I love when the colors blend together. Once I was satisfied with the colors, I let the panel completely dry before moving on to the next step.

I pulled some various stamps from Simon, as well as from Tim Holtz and randomly stamped onto the panel using Archival Black ink. I then took a stencil and added some white ink, but I think that got lost in the process, so I then took some blue and pink paint and applied that through the stencil. I took a Copic Multiliner and outlined most of the circles. You can’t really tell that on these particular butterflies, but you can on another project that I created. For even more interest, I did lots of splatter with Distress Oxide Sprays, black ink and gold ink.

The butterflies were cut from the watercolor panel, as well as from white cardstock, while the bodies were cut from black cardstock. Those were adhered together and foam tape was placed on the back. The panel was created using the Eyelet Layer Frames with more gold splatter to bring everything together. The sentiment was stamped, stacked and adhered to the panel using liquid glue, and the butterflies were added to finish up.

That does it for this project. I hope you like it! I still have quite a bit of panel left and plan to cut some stars from it for birthday cards perhaps. I also created another project using only the smallest butterfly, but you’ll see that some time down the road. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great day!

Simon Says Stamp Groovy Birthday

Hello Friends, and welcome back to my blog! I’m still playing with goodies from the Beautiful Moments release, and today’s project is featuring the Groovy Daisies. I decided while I was stamping that I would go ahead and create two panels, so let’s go ahead and get into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

Both panels were created the same, so I put my first panel in the Misti and added some Bubblegum ink to one corner, softening the ink line with a blending brush. I stamped that and moved on to the next color, softening each of the ink lines with a brush so that I didn’t have any of the harsh lines. The other colors that were used were Zest, Seafoam and Lilac.

I trimmed both panels down using the A2 Scalloped Rectangles and then went to work on the sentiments. Those were cut once with gold cardstock and twice from Neenah, as well as cutting the shadow portion twice. All of those layers were adhered together for a stacked sentiment.

The panels were adhered to the card base, the sentiments were adhered using foam strips, and some gold metallic pearls were added to a few of the flowers to finish up.

That does it for these projects! My ink blending is super light, and I think these would be gorgeous using some darker colors as well. I might have to give that a go sometime soon! Thanks for joining me, and I hope you have a fabulous day!
