Simon Says Stamp Love & Hugs Botanical

Hello Friends, and welcome back to my blog! The latest Simon release, You Are My Favorite, is live and I’m back with a project featuring the new Big Botanicals. Let’s go ahead and get right into the details since this one had lots of steps.

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by putting a panel of mixed media paper in my splat box and adding Distress Oxide Sprays and Spritzes until I was satisfied. The sprays used were Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, Prize Ribbon and Rustic Wilderness. The Spritzes used were Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint. I did dry my paper between layers of color so that I could build upon each other.

Once satisfied with the panel, I stamped one of the florals from the Big Botanicals set onto the panel using VersaFine Onyx Black and heat set it using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I did use a couple of the other elements from the stamp set and added those as well. I also used the TH Stitches set for some other added elements. I also used the TH Digits stencil along with some Ranger Translucent Crackle Paste to add some texture.

I set that aside to dry while I worked on the other elements for the card. I stamped the sentiment, which is from the Mix & Match Butterflies set, onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat set that using Simon Detail White Embossing Powder. It was trimmed out using the coordinating die several times for a stacked sentiment. I used the Stitching Butterflies set to cut and assemble one of the butterflies to add once everything was dry.

For even more texture, I used the TH Paper Distress tool to rough up the edges of the panel, and I used a water brush to paint the floral and dry it with paper towels to lift some of the ink from those areas. My panel was adhered to the card base with foam tape, while the butterfly and sentiment were adhered with foam strips.

Spellbinders Just A Note Daisies

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Here’s another project featuring the Yana’s Daisies from the Spellbinders April releases. Let’s get right into the details, shall we?

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting the daisies once from Neenah 110lb cardstock and once from gold cardstock. I also cut the base layer from Neenah as well for the assembly. While the white petals were still in place, I did some ink blending on those using Morning and Heather inks.

I adhered the gold outline portion to the base layer using liquid glue, and then adhered the ink blended petals in place, along with the gold centers. The sentiment, which is from the Crafty Hugs Sentiments, was gold foiled onto Neenah and trimmed out several times for a stacked sentiment look.

My background panel was created using the Nested Postage Labels & Tag, and then splattered with gold acrylic ink. This panel was adhered to the card base, the daisies were adhered using foam tape and the sentiment was adhered using foam strips. I decided that I needed some additional leaves and cut those from the Club Blooms set using Neenah and gold cardstock. I added some clear drops to finish up this project.

Simon Says Stamp White Fusion Thanks

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! Today’s project is featuring the new White Fusion stencil from Simon’s latest Rain or Shine release. Let’s go ahead and jump into the details.

I began this project by stenciling the White Fusion leaf onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using Simon’s Sage, Cabbage, Artichoke and Kale inks, along with Pinkfresh Eucalyptus ink. Once I was done with all of the stenciling, I fussy cut the leaf out, and added some gold detail with a Krylon Gold Leafing pen.

My next step was to cut a panel using the Postage Stamp Edge Frames and splatter that with gold acrylic ink. I die cut the Abundant Leaf Background from Green Apple cardstock and did some ink blending along the edges using those same green inks. I adhered the background panel to the card base using foam tape, and then adhered the White Fusion leaf with foam tape as well.

The Abudant Leaf Background was trimmed apart and secured with liquid glue underneath the larger leaf. I die cut the Simple Thanks once from gold cardstock and twice from Neenah 110lb and adhered all of those together before being adhered to the card. To finish up, I added some Pinkfresh Gold Metallic Pearls to pull everything together.

Spellbinders Birthday Daisies

Hello Friends, and welcome back! Spellbinders April releases are live and I’m back again today with another project featuring Yana’s Daisies. I previously posted a project that used just the petals from this project, so you’ll have to check that out. Let’s go ahead and get into the details, shall we?

NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by die cutting Yana’s Daisies several times from Neenah 110lb cardstock. I knew that I wanted to use just the outline for this project, so I carefully trimmed the leaves off of the daisies. Once I was done with my cutting, I splattered the daisy outlines with black acrylic ink.

My background was created using Gravel cardstock along with the Nestled Postage Labels & Tag set. I did not want to have to cut the daisies again to get black centers, so I just used a black ink pad for that. I began adhering the daisy clusters with liquid glue, filling in all of the spaces and trimming off the excess. The sentiment was silver foiled onto black cardstock and trimmed out several times for a stacked sentiment.

The gray panel was adhered to a black panel, the sentiment was adhered using foam strips, the centers were added in place and clear drops were added to finish up.

Spellbinders Feel Better Daisies

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back to my blog! The new April releases from Spellbinders are live, and I’m back today with a project featuring Yana’s Daisies! Yana makes beautiful florals, and I was so excited to be able to play with this collection! Let’s go ahead and go through the details!

I began this project by cutting Yana’s Daisies several times from Neenah 110lb cardstock. You’ll see in a later post where I use the outline of the daisies, but for this post, I wanted to use all of these petals that were leftover from that project! I picked out a bunch of the petals and did some light ink blending on those using Bubblegum ink. I also did some ink blending on the centers using Honey ink.

I retrieved some Press n Seal from the kitchen, and arranged the petals upside down around one of the centers, basically creating my own flower with the pieces. Once everything was arranged, I placed tiny pieces of foam tape on the back of the flower pieces. Once that was done, I arranged the flowers onto my panel, which I had previously splattered with gold acrylic ink.

I wanted some greenery for the flowers, so I die cut one of the leaves from the Club Blooms set from Green Apple cardstock and did some ink blending using Artichoke ink. I tucked those under the petals and secured them in place with liquid glue.

The sentiment, which is from the You Are Everything Sentiments set, was gold foiled and trimmed out several times with the coordinating die and adhered atop the panel with foam strips. To finish up, I added some Gold Metallic Pearls for some added shine.

Simon Says Stamp Thank You Blossom

Hello Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! I’m back with a project featuring the new Thank You Basics from Simon’s latest release, Rain or Shine. Let’s go ahead and go through the details for this one.

I began this project by die cutting the Elegant Blossom Branch from Neenah 110lb cardstock and ink blending the pieces using Guava, Limelicious and Pearfection inks. I did cut the stem portion two additional times and adhered those together, along with the pieces of the flowers with liquid glue.

The background was cut using the Postage Stamp Edge Frames, which is one of my favorites, and then splattered using gold acrylic ink. Once dry, I stamped the sentiment from the Thank You Basics set using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set it with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. The panel was then adhered to the card base using foam tape, the stem was glued in place and the flowers were adhered with additional pieces of foam tape. To finish up, I added a few clear drops for some shine.

That does it for this one! I really love the clean and simple look of this card. Clean and simple doesn’t always come easy for me, so I do enjoy when an idea comes together! Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Mod Plants

Hello Friends and welcome back! Thanks for joining me for today’s project featuring the new Mod Plants from Simon’s latest release, Rain or Shine. You’ve had a few day to peruse the release, what are your favorites? Let me know in the comments! Let’s go ahead and run through the details for this one!

I began this project by pulling my Bubblegum, Sunbeam and Seafoam inks. I picked out one plant from this set to do a repeat rainbow pattern. Once the stamp was place in the Misti, I inked the top portion of the stamp with the Bubblegum ink and used a blending brush to soften the edge of the ink. I did end up stamping several times to get good coverage. I then inked the middle portion of the stamp with the Sunbeam ink, softening the edges as before. I then inked the bottom portion of the stamp with the Seafoam ink, softening the edges of the ink again.

Once I was finished with one leaf, I moved it to the next area on my panel and repeated those stamping steps each time. When finished, I used the Postage Stamp Edge Frames to trim the panel down. This was then adhered to the card base using foam tape. The Sending Love & Hugs sentiment was cut once from gold cardstock and twice from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and the shadow portion was also cut twice. All of those pieces were adhered together using liquid glue and then added to the card with foam strips to finish up.

Pinkfresh Dark Floral Beauty

Hello Crafty Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring some relatively new Pinkfresh goodies. I have a problem .. I purchase Pinkfresh products, and then I never use them, so I’m trying to do something about that! With that being said, I love the pastel, floral vibe of Pinkfresh, but I wanted to try my hand at a dark Pinkfresh card. Let me know what you think in the comments. Let’s go ahead and run through the details for this project!

Ok, so I knew I wanted dark colors, but I didn’t want to go my usual route of black and grays, so I opted for blues and gold. I began by gold foiling the Interlaced Diamond Press Plate onto Indigo cardstock and used the coordinating die to trim it out. I also cut one from black and adhered those together using liquid glue. My next step was to cut the Fresh Florals from Partly Cloudy cardstock. This is an older Spellbinders cardstock, and I think the comparable new ColorWheel color would be Malibu.

Once all of the florals and leaves were cut, I did some ink blending on the flowers using Stargazer ink. I went pretty heavy handed as I wanted the flowers to match the indigo. After I was done ink blending, I decided that it might be pretty to add a layer of gold to everything, so I cut the Fresh Florals again from gold cardstock. I adhered the blue flowers to the gold flowers using foam squares, because I wanted to be able to see the underlying layer. I then assembled the rest of the flowers with liquid glue.

I gold foiled the sentiment, which is from the Favorite Things set, onto the same indigo cardstock and used the coordinating die to trim it out twice. Before beginning the assembly of the card, I cut a panel of the indigo and gold splattered that to add a bit of background interest.

The Interlaced Diamonds was adhered first and then I began adhering the leaves. I glued the gold leaves in place and then glued the blue leaves atop those but slightly off center. I then glued the flowers in place and adhered the sentiment in the center using foam strips. To finish up, I added gold metallic pearls to the centers of the flowers.

Simon Says Stamp Pepita Background

Hello Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the new Pepita Background from Simon’s latest release, Rain or Shine. Let’s go ahead and get right into it!

I began this project by stamping the background onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using Dew, Mist and Raindrop inks. I started with the lightest color at the top of my panel and used a small blending brush to soften the edges of the ink on the stamp, so as not to have any harsh edges. I did have to repeat this step multiple times to get a good image. I proceeded with the the other colors doing the same thing.

Once I was satisfied with the stamped image, I made marks on the panel so I knew where to trim it down. I then used my scissors to trim along the edges to give it a more interesting appeal. I really liked that look and did another card the same way. I die cut the Lush Leaves from Matte Silver cardstock as well as an aqua mirrored cardstock that I purchased from my local craft store.

While I was cutting, I went ahead and cut the Scripty Hugs once from the same mirror cardstock and twice from Neenah, as well as cutting the shadow portion twice. I adhered all of those pieces together and started the assembly process. The background was adhered using foam tape while the leaves were secured with liquid glue. I added the sentiment with foam strips and added Surf Dazzling Gems to finish up this project.

Simon Says Stamp Nifty Happy to Know You

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I’m so glad that you stopped by to check out today’s project featuring the new Nifty Star Plate from the Rain or Shine release. Let’s go ahead and run through the details, shall we?

I began this project by die cutting the Nifty Star Plate once from Neenah 110lb cardstock and once from black cardstock. I then poked out all of the pieces from both panels and put the black panel onto a Craft Tacky Mat and put the white pieces into place. Once those were in place, I did some light ink blending using Bubblegum, Sunbeam and Seafoam inks.

To get proper placement onto my card base, I put some removable tape on the back of the black panel and began the inlay process adding the black pieces first and securing with liquid glue and then adding the ink blended pieces atop that. Once all of the pieces were in place, I carefully removed the black panel that I was using as my guide.

The sentiment, which is from the Extra Talkative set, was stamped onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat set using Detail White Embossing Powder. That was then trimmed out using the coordinating die along with two additional cuts. Those were adhered together and added to the card using foam strips. To finish up, I added black crystals to the centers of each piece.
