Spellbinders Birthday Wishes

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! The January releases from Spellbinders are live, and I’m back today with a project featuring the new Ganache Gateau, Birthday Cheers and the Vivid Blooms! Don’t you love it when the vision in your mind translates well to an actual project?! Let’s go through the details for this one, shall we?

I began this project by cutting the base layer of the cake using Cotton Candy cardstock, while cutting the frosting pieces from Neenah 110lb cardstock. There was quite a bit of floral cutting for this project and the cardstock colors that I used were Gold, Waterfall, Saffron, Peacock and Green Apple. Those will all be listed in the thumbnails below.

Once all of the floral die cutting was complete, I did some ink blending on the flowers using Bubblegum, Surf and Cabbage inks. The floral pieces were then assembled using liquid glue. Before adding anything to the cake, I did splatter it with gold acrylic ink for some added interest. I began the assembly with the leaves and flowers at the bottom of the cake, and then added the bottom icing piece.

I wanted to figure out the sentiment before adding the top pieces to the cake, so I die cut the support sticks five times from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and I die cut the ‘birthday wishes’ once from gold cardstock and four times from Neenah. All of those pieces were adhered together so that it would be sturdy.

I adhered the top icing pieces, the support sticks and then the flowers around those. Adding the flowers over the support sticks hid the bottom portion of those, which I wanted. My next step was to secure the sentiment in place. I wanted the card to be the shape of the cake, so I cut another piece of pink cardstock and scored it at 1/4″ and applied some Scor Tape to secure those together.

Simon Says Stamp Artsy Birthday Instagram Hop

Hello Friends, and welcome back! The newest release from Simon, Sweet Wishes, is live and I’m back today with a birthday card featuring the new Artsy Florals set. I began this project by stamping one of the circle elements from the set a bunch of times using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat setting them using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I also stamped another circle detail and dots within the centers for some added interest.

Once everything was stamped, I colored the artsy circles using Copic Markers in RV55, Y38 and BG01. I decided on these colors after pulling an inspiration card from my Color Cubes, because I get stuck on colors sometimes. I die cut the You once from black glossy cardstock and twice from regular black cardstock and adhered all of those together using liquid glue. The sub-sentiment is from the You stamp set, and that was stamped using VersaMark Ink and heat set using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder.

My background uses the SSS A2 Marquee die and some black splatter. I adhered a few of the arty circles with glue and some with foam tape, and both of the sentiments were adhered using foam strips for that added dimension that I love.

Simon Says Stamp Floral Birthday Love STAMPtember Blog Party

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I’m so happy that you joined me for today’s HUGE STAMPtember blog party! My project is featuring the new Rustic Layering Flower in aqua tones with a hint of grey. This is such an awesome release, with so many more things coming during the month, so stay tuned for all of the excitement! Let’s go ahead and go through the details for my project!

I began this project by pulling an inspiration card from The Color Cubes, and then I ink blended a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Mist and Raindrop. Those two colors seemed to match the color palette best. Once the ink blending was complete, I cut the Rustic Layering Flower twice from that panel. I do a little more ink blending in the center of the flowers for more depth before assembling the flowers using liquid glue.

Now that I had the flowers, I had to decide on the rest of the card! I opted to go with the Whirl Diamond Plate for my background, and I cut a bunch of leaves from grey cardstock using the Budding Branches. In laying out the card, I decided that I needed one more small flower, so I cut that and assembled it as well.

I splattered my card base using TH Distress Oxide Spray in Hickory Smoke before adhering the background panel. I began adhering the grey leaves in place first using liquid glue, trimming down as necessary. Once I was happy with the leaf placement, I adhered the flowers using foam strips.

For the sentiment, I used the Mix & Match Butterflies set and stamped that using VersaFine Onyx Black and heat set it using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I trimmed it out using the coordinating dies, and made two additional cuts for a stacked sentiment. That was then adhered using foam strips as well. To finish up, I added some Surf Dazzling Gems and some silver metallic pearls to the “buds” of the branches.

Simon Says Stamp Foiled Starry Sky

Hello Crafters and welcome back! Thank you so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring the new Starry Sky Foil Transfer Cards from Simon’s latest release, Cheering for You. Let’s jump right into the details!

I never seem to have enough birthday cards, so I knew I wanted to make this card into a birthday card. I began by foiling the SSS Starry Sky Transfer Card using Thermoweb Lapis Watercolor Foil and my Minc Mini. Once the foiling was complete, I used the SSS Postage Stamp Edge Frames to trim it down.

I used the SSS Basic Box Card Happy Birthday sentiment and cut that once from silver cardstock and twice from black cardstock. I also cut the shadow portion twice and adhered all of the pieces together using liquid glue.

The panel was adhered to the card base using foam tape and the sentiment was glued directly to the panel to finish up.

A super simple card for today, but this Lapis foil is really beautiful and has an interesting feel to it. I hope you enjoyed this project, and I hope it inspires you to get crafty in your space. Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Butterflies

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks so much for stopping by! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Whirl Butterflies from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Celebrate. Let’s jump right in to it, shall we?

I began this card by die cutting the SSS Whirl Butterflies from scraps of Neenah 110lb cardstock and did some light ink blending on them using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Bubblegum, Sunbeam, Seafoam and Lilac. This die doesn’t come with a body for the butterflies, but I wanted mine to have a body, so I used just the body portion from the SSS Layered Cosmic Butterfly set, and secured it with liquid glue.

The background needed some interest so I embossed a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock using the SSS Circle Hoops Embossing Folder, trimmed it down slightly and adhered it to a black panel for contrast using foam tape. I stamped the sentiment, which is from the SSS Big Old Birthday set, using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and heat set it using Ranger Clear Embossing Powder and repeated that process for a second time for a smoother heat embossed image. I then used the coordinating die to cut it out, along with three additional pieces and adhered all of those together using liquid glue.

I glued the sentiment to the background panel and secured the butterflies with SSS 3D Foam Strips, before adding some SSS Clear Dazzling Gems to finish this one up.

Simon Says Stamp Splendid Leafy Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! I’m so glad that you’re here! Today’s project is featuring the new Splendid die, and the Splendid Sentiments Stamp set from Simon’s latest release, Be Bold. Let’s get right in to it!

I always say, Die Cutting is My Jam, so maybe this should become a series! I like creating backgrounds with unexpected dies, and today’s card does just that! I took the SSS Splendid die and cut a bunch of those from Neenah 110lb cardstock, and cut it once from gold cardstock. I also cut a panel using the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles to use as the background. I had to play around with the placement before committing to adhering the words onto the panel with liquid glue.

Once all of the white words were adhered to the panel, I trimmed off the excess and glued the gold sentiment in place. I used the SSS Splendid Sentiments and stamped the additional sentiment using VersaMark Ink and heat set those using Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder. I trimmed those down and adhered them to the panel using SSS 3D Foam Strips.

I used the SSS Abundant Leaves to cut those from Neenah 110lb cardstock and did some ink blending using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Sprout and Seafoam. Those were then adhered to the panel with liquid glue as well. The panel was adhered to a black panel for contrast before being added to the card base. For some additional bling, I added some PFS Gold Metallic Pearls to finish up.

Simon Says Stamp Birthday Whirl Medallion

Hello, Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Whirl Medallion from Simon’s latest release, Be Bold. If you’ve been around here for a little while, you probably know that I like creating backgrounds with single dies, and today’s project does just that. So, let’s go run through the deets for this one!

Main Products:

I began this project by cutting a bunch of the SSS Whirl Medallions from gold cardstock. Once I had enough of the medallions, I grabbed a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and started playing around with the placement. I knew that I wanted to cover the whole panel, so I began in the middle of the panel.

I adhered the first medallion with liquid glue, and worked my way outward from there. Once all of the medallions were placed, I trimmed off the excess. This panel was then adhered to a black panel with foam tape for contrast. I used this Happy Birthday sentiment, which is from the SSS Birthday Basics set, and stamped that using VersaMark Ink and heat setting it with Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder.

I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment, along with two additional cuts and glued all of those together for a stacked look. The sentiment was then adhered in the center of the card with SSS 3D Foam Strips, and the entire panel was adhered to the card base.

Pretty simple card for today! Die cutting is my jam, and I love creating backgrounds with a single die or with smaller dies. Whirl Diamond Florals

Hello Crafty Friends, and welcome back! Thanks so much for stopping by to check out today’s project featuring a few newer and older products from Simon Says Stamp. Let’s run through the details, shall we?

I had the idea to glue a black die cut of the SSS Whirl Diamond Plate onto a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock and doodle in the white space, so I pursued this idea today. I used a black Copic Multiliner to do the doodling, and the next step was to figure out something to go with this panel. That was the hard part! Especially for someone who overthinks! Here’s the dialogue that goes on .. Let’s try this. Let’s try that. Let’s try this with that. No, let’s try something different. I started out trying to use the SSS Fine Floral Stem in white and then in grey, but it just wasn’t speaking to me. I then decided to cut the flowers from silver cardstock, trying to use them with the stem, and it still wasn’t working for me. I then tried placing the silver flowers in a grid, and ultimately decided on that design. Obviously, I had to cut the flowers a bunch of times to be able to fill the panel.

I adhered the flowers using liquid glue, and then decided that the flowers would be better with black centers. Guess what, I had to go back and cut a bunch of the centers from black cardstock. I make things hard on myself so much of the time! I added the black centers, trimmed off the excess where needed, and went to work on the sentiment.

The sentiment is from the SSS Clean Line Stack stamp set, and I stamped it using VersaMark Ink and heat set it using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to trim it out, along with two additional cuts for a stacked sentiment. I then adhered that to the panel using SSS 3D Foam Strips before adhering the panel to the card base.

That does it for this one! Are you an over thinker too? I am genuinely curious! Do you go back and forth on what to add or what to try? It’s exhausting, I must say. Birthday Checking In

Hello Crafty Friends and thanks for stopping by! STAMPtember has arrived! Are you excited? Have you checked out the release yet? What are your favorites? I would love to know in the comments! I’m here today with a card featuring the brand new Checking In stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. So, let’s go through the details, shall we?

I began by stamping the floral image from the SSS Checking In set onto a panel of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock in the corners using VersaMark Ink and heat setting that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. Once the stamping was done, I used the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles to trim the panel down.

To add color to the flowers, I used a white colored pencil, as well as a graphite pencil and a blending stump. After the coloring was completed, I splattered the panel using White Acrylic Ink.

For the sentiment, I opted for the SSS Happy Birthday Brush Script and cut that three times from black cardstock, adhering them all together using liquid glue. I then adhered the sentiment to my panel between the florals and added some pearls for a little added interest.

To finish up, the stamped panel was adhered to a black panel for contact using foam tape, and that was then adhered to the card base.

Super simple card, but I like the monochromatic tone of the finished project. I hope you enjoyed it as well. Simon Says Stamp Painted Rainbow Birthday

Hello Friends, and thank you so much for stopping by. Are you getting lots of inspiration from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release, Dear Friend? What are your favorites from this release? I’ve really enjoyed playing with the Painted Rainbow background stamp, and today’s post features another project using that stamp. So, let’s run through the details!

To begin, I popped a panel of Neenah 110lb cardstock in the Misti and stamped the different pieces of stamp using SSS Pawsitively Saturated Inks in an assortment of Bubblegum, Cheeky, Melon, Lemonade, Seafoam and Lilac. I stamped one portion of the stamp, cleaned it, and moved on to the next portion with the next color. Once the background was completed, I trimmed it down using the PFS Diagonal Stitched Rectangles.

I stamped the birthday sentiment from the SSS Clean Line Stacks set onto black cardstock using VersaMark ink and heat set that using SSS Detail White Embossing Powder. I used the coordinating die to trim out the sentiment, cutting it an additional two more times and adhering all of those together using liquid glue.

The sentiment was then adhered in the center of the panel, and I added some coordinating PinkFresh Studio Jewels along the arches of the rainbow for added interest and bling. Because, every card needs just a little bit of bling! Well, I guess this is a lot of bling!

The panel was then adhered to the card base using foam tape for some extra dimension, because dimension is life!

That does it for this project! Super simple, but I love the way it turned out! The jewels coordinate so well with the Simon ink colors!
