Simon Says Stamp Best Mom

Hello Crafty Friends, and thanks for stopping by! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Best Mom Background stamp from Simon’s latest release, In My Heart. Let’s go ahead and get into the details!

NOTE: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

I began this project by stamping the background onto a panel using PFS Misty Coast ink. My next step was to create a frame using the older Stitched Rectangles set. The flowers were cut from Neenah using the Hanging Leaf Ring set and the leaves from that set were cut using Smoke cardstock, while the Budding Branches were cut from Fog cardstock.

The flowers were ink blended using Bubblegum and Carnation inks. I applied different pressures to achieve different levels of ink intensity. The sentiment was stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and double heat embossed for a smoother finish. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate this particular stamp set on the Simon website, but they have other great sets for Mother’s Day. I’ll link to one that is very similar for your convenience. That was cut several times using the coordinating die for a stacked look, which I love.

Before the assembly process, I adhered a clear drop to the center of each flower for added interest. The background panel was trimmed down, the frame was adhered using foam tape, the leaves were added and then the flowers. The sentiment was secured with foam tape, with a few more flowers added around that and clear drops were added to the branches to finish up.

That does it for this project! I hope you enjoyed it! It was a labor of love, because I kept thinking of how much I would have loved to give this card to my Mom while I was making it. Anyhoo, I appreciate you stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
